Automotive and Welding Institute Of Sarawak (AWISAR) was set up by Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak) in collaboration with Sarawak Foundry & Engineering Industries Association as a smart partnership between a training & education institution and the industries. AWISAR was created to produce continuous supply of quality workforce in tandem with human resources requirement for the state development projects. As a training and education provider, its responsibility is to ensure that the skills and qualification of its graduates are comprehensive and relevant to the industries' requirement. The institute competitive advantage comes from collaboration with the relevant industry. Participation from the industries would ensure relevancy and viability of its training programmes. As a dynamic provider, its role is bridging skills and knowledge to serve industrial needs. Ultimately, AWISAR aspires to create competent workforce that would be competitive in the global market. Currently, the institute is offering training programme in Automotive and Welding Technology. The graduates will be awarded Malaysian Skills Certificate or Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 2 to Level 4 issued by the Department of Skills Development (JPK) an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources. The institute unfolds new opportunities for the youth to be trained especially in Automotive and Welding Technology that would mould them to be skilled and qualified workers. Alternatively, they can become an entrepreneur and take up available projects arising from the effect of our economic growths. The courses conducted at the institute are skills based in compliance to the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS). The students will be evaluated based on their competency to perform and complete the tasks stipulated under the standard. Our graduates will be awarded Malaysian Skills Certificate (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia) issued by the Department of Skills Development. The NOSS was developed by industries expert from relevant field to ensure the relevancy of the programme. Therefore, the NOSS is considered Malaysian standard to benchmark the skills and competencies of employee. Automotive - After Sales Servicing (SKM Level 2 & 3)
The Automotive-After Sales Servicing programme is for those who are keen to develop their practical skills in motor vehicle maintenance, repairing and servicing. Qualified and skilled motor vehicle mechanics are in great demand due to the rapid growth of our automotive industry. Automotive mechanic is a lucrative and rewarding career as the need to maintain, repair and service private and public vehicles are in the rise as more people owns motor vehicles. Besides undergoing training at the simulation workshop, the students will also be exposed to real customers' vehicle repair at AWISAR service centre. Welding (SKM Level 3 & Diploma Level 4)
As our country's infrastructure development continues to progress, human resources with welding skills will be much sought after. Currently, the state is still facing shortage of local skilled welding workers to be employed in the oil & gas industry, existing construction projects and future projects at the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) industrial growth area. The welding programme offered at AWISAR would train the studentd to be skilled and qualified welders. The graduates also can become self-employed or entrepreneur by taking up development projects. The institute provides a systematic and practical approach to training in welding. The students will be trained up to level 3G, 4G, 6G and 6GR of welding skills. The industrial attachment, a prerequisite, at the end of the programme will enable the graduates to gain industrial practical experience. Besides acquiring the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM), our Level 3 students are also encouraged to sit for Petronas Advanced Welding Certificate. Programme Duration:

Entry Requirement is completed SPM with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia
