CANTEEN AND RMT OPERATION MONITORING

S3.3 – Aspect 3.3.3: Student Safety Management

👥 Participants: Senior assistant of student affairs and canteen operators

Summary:
A monitoring visit on the operation of the school canteen and RMT was conducted by Puan Norazalina Kushairy, Assistant District Education Officer, Kuching, to ensure that the provision and management of food services continue to prioritise the safety, cleanliness and well-being of pupils.

The monitoring focused on the overall operation of the school canteen and RMT, including cleanliness, food preparation and handling practices, safety measures, and compliance with the established requirements. Relevant observations and feedback were shared with the teacher in charge and canteen operators.

Objectives:
• To ensure that the operation of the school canteen and RMT complies with the prescribed guidelines, regulations and procedures.
• To assess cleanliness, food safety, food handling practices and health-related aspects.
• To identify areas requiring improvement and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.

Impact:
The monitoring strengthened awareness among the staff and canteen operators regarding food safety, cleanliness and pupil safety. It also provided an opportunity to identify areas for continuous improvement in the delivery of canteen and RMT services.

Follow-Up Action:
The school and canteen operators will take the necessary corrective and improvement measures based on the observations and feedback received, with continued monitoring to ensure compliance and maintain a safe and hygienic environment for pupils.

SCHOOL SAFETY AND SECURITY INSPECTION

📍 Venue: SK St. Mary, Kuching
👥 Participants: School Management and Security Guards

Summary :
SK St. Mary, Kuching underwent a surprise safety and security inspection conducted by the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer Malaysia, Sarawak State, Prime Minister’s Department on 21 August 2026.

The inspection was conducted based on the KPKK 23A Checklist (Rev. 2025). Overall, the level of physical security control at Sekolah Kebangsaan St. Mary achieved 97.78%.

Following the inspection, the Headmistress shared the inspection findings and relevant feedback with the school security guards to ensure that the areas highlighted are clearly understood and given appropriate attention.

Objectives :
* To assess the level of physical security and safety control within the school premises.
* To ensure that school safety and security measures are implemented effectively.
* To identify areas requiring continuous monitoring and improvement.

Impact :
The inspection provided valuable feedback on the school’s existing safety and security practices and strengthened awareness among the school management, staff and security personnel regarding their respective roles in maintaining a safe and secure school environment.

Follow-Up Action :
The school management will continue to monitor and strengthen safety and security measures. The security guards will also be briefed and reminded to remain vigilant and to ensure that the required security procedures and controls are consistently implemented.

HARI CUCI MALAYSIA 2026

Aspect 2.5: School Climate

Venue: Classrooms and special-purpose rooms
Participants: All teachers and pupils

Objectives :
• To cultivate awareness and good practices in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the school environment.
• To foster teamwork and a sense of responsibility among teachers and pupils in caring for their learning spaces.
• To promote a positive, clean, safe and conducive school climate.

Summary :
SK St. Mary, Kuching conducted the Program Hari Cuci Malaysia at school level through a clean-up activity involving classrooms and special-purpose rooms.

Due to the current haze situation in Kuching, the activity was carried out indoors as a precautionary measure to safeguard the health and well-being of pupils and teachers. Teachers and pupils worked together to clean, organise and maintain their respective learning spaces.

Impact :
The activity strengthened teamwork, responsibility and awareness of cleanliness among the school community. It also helped create cleaner, more organised and conducive learning environments while ensuring that the activity was conducted safely during the haze situation.

Follow-Up Action :
The school will continue to encourage all teachers and pupils to practise good cleanliness and hygiene habits and maintain the cleanliness of classrooms and special-purpose rooms on a regular basis.

📝 SUMMARY
The Guidance and Support Visit for the Special Remedial Programme and PITS 2026 was conducted by En. Sem Morni and En. Saini from the Special Remedial Unit, Kuching District Education Office.
The visit focused on providing professional guidance, monitoring programme implementation and reviewing the progress of pupils involved in the intervention programmes. Discussions also covered programme management, intervention strategies, documentation and areas for further improvement. 🤝📖
The session provided a valuable platform for professional sharing and collaboration between the school and PPD Kuching, with a shared commitment to ensuring that pupils receive appropriate, continuous and meaningful learning support.

Assalamualaikum wbt dan salam sejahtera semua sahabat Pengetua/Guru Besar, didoakan sihat hendaknya sentiasa.

Memandangkan IPU pada hari ini menunjukkan trend makin meningkat, maka tuan/puan gunakanlah punca kuasa yang telah ditetapkan.

Sila patuhi segala perkara yang telah ditetapkan dalam SOP. Langkah penyuraian murid laksanakanlah secara baik dan dikomunikasikan secara baik dengan ibu bapa/penjaga.

DISTRIBUTION OF FACE MASKS DURING THE HAZE DISASTER

As part of the school’s efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of pupils and staff during the haze disaster, face masks were distributed to pupils and teachers on Monday, 21 September 2026.

📍 Venue: Classrooms, SK St. Mary, Kuching
👥 Participants: All pupils and teachers

Objectives :
1. To protect pupils and school staff from the health effects of exposure to haze and airborne pollutants.
2. To reduce the risk of respiratory discomfort and other health problems associated with poor air quality.
3. To promote awareness and safe health practices among pupils and staff throughout the haze disaster.

Summary:
Face masks were distributed to pupils and teachers as a preventive health measure during the haze period. Class teachers coordinated the distribution to ensure that each pupil received the allocated face masks. Pupils were also reminded of the importance of wearing masks appropriately and taking necessary precautions when exposed to haze.

Impact :
The initiative provided immediate preventive support to pupils and staff and increased awareness of personal health protection during periods of poor air quality. It also demonstrated the school’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.

VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY DURING HAZE SEASON

As part of the school’s adaptation to the haze season, a Virtual Assembly was conducted in each classroom. This approach enabled the school to continue delivering important messages to pupils while minimising their exposure to outdoor haze conditions.

👥 Participants: Headmistress, senior assistants, teachers and all pupils

Objectives :
1. To ensure important school announcements and messages are communicated effectively to all pupils.

3. To maintain school unity and communication through an alternative assembly arrangement during the haze season.

Summary :
The Virtual Assembly was conducted simultaneously in the respective classrooms as an adaptation to the current haze conditions. Key messages, particularly discipline reminders, school announcements, safety guidelines and other important information, were delivered by the school administration and teachers.

Impact :
