Today, we commemorate the birthday of a legendary leader in transformational education, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing.

In celebrating his life and legacy on Founder’s Day, we also commend the achievements of our many students and highflying alumni who are driving his vision.

It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of our Founder President, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing.

A true father of innovation, a Malaysian artist, designer, author, entrepreneur, educationist, and philanthropist. A visionary who developed innovative education globally, empowering young minds with 21st-century skills especially in the developing world.

We extend our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his friends & family. Our loving thoughts are with them at this most difficult time as we mourn a man who we will always be proud of.

Tan Sri Limkokwing is one of Asia's most well-known communications strategists. He built his campaigns on meaningful messages, like the Anti-Piracy Campaign: Because so much of creativity is about ideas, copyright - the protection of ideas - is an important issue. Without it, creative people have few means of financial support. Pirated goods, while cheaper, cannot be encouraged on principle.

The advertisements were produced for the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs to remind Malaysians about the long arm of the law on copyright infringement: that the next time we enjoy a movie, it should be a genuine article.

Tan Sri Limkokwing’s philanthropic journey started with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society in the late 60s, which saw him help build settlements for ‘Vietnamese boat people’ in Malaysia following the fall of Saigon in the mid-70s. He was the Malaysia Red Crescent’s Vice Chairman and used to be international Advisor to the World Red Cross Society.

Tan Sri Limkokwing worked on improving the quality of human capital nationwide –not only in terms of intellect but also character. In efforts to fight cyber-crime, his expertise extended to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) with the launch of 'Be Smart'– a crime prevention awareness campaign. PDRM’s website, designed by Limkokwing University won several international awards.
