Flags up, music on, smiles everywhere. ❤️

Our little Malaysians celebrated Merdeka with a mini parade, songs, dancing, traditional games and plenty of hands-on fun.

To them, Merdeka may begin with colourful flags and catchy songs — but little by little, it becomes a sense of belonging, togetherness and love for the place we call home.

Some lessons are simple, but their impact can last a lifetime.🌍

Our annual Trienekens visit is always a meaningful one for the children at Taska Angel, especially through their “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.” programme.

At this age, it starts with the basics — knowing where rubbish belongs, understanding why litter should never end up in our rivers and oceans and learning that the things we use do not always have to be thrown away.

These may feel like small ideas, but this is exactly where awareness begins.

When we keep reinforcing these messages from young, children slowly learn that caring for the environment is not something big or complicated. It is simply part of how we live, how we make choices and how we take care of the world around us.

Because looking after our planet starts with the little things we choose to do every day. 💚♻️

One of our annual traditions at Taska Angel — welcoming Trienekens back for their educational programme, “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”♻️🌱

We believe awareness should start young. Small actions may seem simple now, but when children hear the same important messages again and again, they slowly become habits that stay with them.

Learning where our rubbish goes, why we should never throw trash into rivers, seas or oceans, how we can reduce waste, reuse what we have and take better care of our home — Earth — are lessons that can make a real difference in the future.🌏

They may be little today, but the choices they learn to make now can shape the kind of world they grow up in.

At Taska Angel, we will keep planting these little seeds of awareness — because small hands can grow into responsible hearts.💚

What happens when you give children a story, a little freedom and someone who knows exactly how to spark their imagination? ✨

This week, we were so happy to welcome Laura Millett from Singapore to Taska Angel for a very special Drama & Expressive Arts session.

With over 15 years of teaching experience in Singapore, including 10 years with the British Council, a degree in Theatre and English and further Shakespeare studies at Balliol College, Oxford through the British American Drama Academy, Laura brought a wonderful depth of experience into the room.

There were pirates to become, treasure to find, ideas to shout out and adventures to create. 🏴‍☠️🗺️ Laura had the children moving, reacting, speaking, pretending and building the story with her from beginning to end.

That was what made the session so special — the children were never just watching. They were part of it.

Sometimes imagination needs almost nothing to begin… and yet it can take children so far. 💛

How Something Simple Can Be So Powerful🎈

We were so happy to welcome Laura Millett, all the way from Singapore, for a very special Drama & Expressive Arts session at Taska Angel.🎭✨

With over 15 years of teaching experience in Singapore, including many years with the British Council, Laura knew exactly how to draw children into a story. This time it was pirates, treasure and adventure!

She didn’t just perform for them. She brought them in. The children became part of the adventure — responding, moving, pretending, making choices, using their voices and creating the story alongside her. 🏴‍☠️🗺️

It was such a lovely reminder of how powerful imagination can be. Give a child the space to pretend and suddenly a simple room becomes an ocean, a treasure map becomes a mission and every child has a part to play.

Thank you, Laura, for bringing so much energy, warmth and creativity into our morning.💛

Our My Favourite Fruit Day was all about simple pleasures — favourite fruits from home, little hands reaching across the table and plenty of tasting along the way.

A beautiful mix of colours, flavours and happy conversations made this one of those easy, joyful moments we love at Taska Angel.

Last week, our little ones brought their favourite fruits to school as part of our Fruits & Vegetables theme — and what a colourful feast it turned into!

Everyone shared, tasted, explored and even discovered a few new favourites along the way. 💛

Sweet, juicy, crunchy, tangy… we had it all. A real vitamin blast at Taska Angel! 🌈🍍

Sensory Play Is Not a Step to Skip 🌿 (throwback)

A child may learn to recite letters or numbers early.
But if the sensory foundation is weak, learning may look good on the surface while feeling much harder underneath.

Sensory play is not optional. It is how young children build the skills that come before academics — attention, body awareness, coordination, self-regulation, language and confidence.

Before a child can sit and write, the brain and body need real experiences: to touch, move, squeeze, pour, climb, listen, explore and make sense of the world.

When this stage is rushed or missed, children may still be taught academics — but often without the strong foundation needed to truly support it.

At Taska Angel, we believe children should not be pushed to perform before they are ready.

First the senses. Then the understanding. Then the learning.💛

We love thematic stories with puppets! With them story time becomes more than sitting and listening.

Children watch, respond, imitate voices, predict what happens next and slowly find the confidence to tell the story themselves.

For young children this is how literacy begins - through the stories they can hear, touch and enjoy🖐️ That's why storytelling at Taska Angel is not always reading from a page. We bring stories into conversation, play and imagination - because these are the moments where the language starts feeling meaningful🌱

Does Knowing ABCs Early Mean a Child is Intelligent?🤔🤗

Not necessarily.

A child may be able to recite the alphabet at 2 or 3 years old, but intelligence is much bigger than memorising letters.

A young child is also learning how to communicate, solve problems, manage emotions, concentrate, move their body, make choices, play with others and understand the world around them.

These are important foundations for future learning.

There is nothing wrong with introducing ABCs early — especially through songs, stories and play. But children should not be pushed into academics before they are developmentally ready.

Knowing ABCs is a skill.
Being curious, confident, adaptable and eager to learn is something much bigger.

At this age, our goal is not to see how much a child can memorise — but to help them develop a genuine love for learning. 🌿
