Kuching, 21/05/2026:

The Faculty of Agrotechnology and Applied Sciences welcomed a visit from Bioeconomy Corporation, represented by Ms. Christable Loni and Mr. Mohd Azrin Abdullah, to explore potential collaboration opportunities. During the visit, Bioeconomy Corporation presented several talent development programmes aimed at enhancing students’ employability in biology-related and bio-based fields.

At the same time, Bioeconomy Corporation also expressed its interest in supporting the development of start-up companies based on innovations produced by i-CATS researchers. The discussion session was chaired by Associate Professor Jong Tien Kiong, Director of ICE, and was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Agrotechnology and Applied Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida Shafreena Ahmad Puad, together with other lecturers from the faculty.

6 Mei 2026 | Kunjungan Hormat ke FELCRA Berhad Sarawak

Kunjungan hormat Fakulti Agroteknologi dan Sains Gunaan, i-CATS University College ke atas FELCRA Berhad Sarawak telah dilaksanakan dengan jayanya.

Delegasi fakulti telah diketuai oleh Timbalan Dekan, Puan Nurhidayah binti Haji Kaluni, dan turut diiringi oleh Encik Edwind Lasum (Ketua Program Diploma Sains Perladangan), Dr. Prisca Devra (Pensyarah Kanan) serta Ts. Seraphina Dominic (Pensyarah).

Kehadiran delegasi telah disambut oleh Pengarah Negeri FELCRA Berhad Sarawak , Tuan Zulkifli bin Sulong. Sesi perbincangan telah memfokuskan kepada penempatan pelajar bagi latihan industri, penganjuran lawatan akademik serta penerokaan peluang kolaborasi strategik antara kedua-dua institusi.

Selaras dengan misi ICATS University College untuk menyediakan pendidikan dan penyelidikan yang mudah diakses dan saksama, berteraskan industri serta bersedia menghadapi masa hadapan, perbincangan yang berlangsung secara konstruktif ini diharapkan dapat memperkukuh jalinan kerjasama sedia ada.

Inisiatif ini seterusnya menyumbang ke arah penghasilan graduan yang berdaya saing serta berkemahiran tinggi selaras dengan keperluan industri.

COURTESY VISIT TO SAUDAGAR NANAS AGROFARM

On 4 May 2026, the Faculty of Agrotechnology and Applied Sciences (FAAS), i-CATS University College, conducted a courtesy visit to Saudagar Nanas Agrofarm, Kajang, Selangor.

The delegation was led by the Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Aida Shafreena Ahmad Puad, accompanied by Mr. Clement Empaling, Head of Program, Master in Agriculture Management (MAM), Mdm. Siti Astella Johari, Head of Program Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Agrotechnology (BSA) & Ts. Emilda Edwin Samaie, Head of Program Bachelor of Technology in Agro-Based Industry (BOT).
The visit was hosted by Mr. Mohd Noorhardy Mohd Noordin, Founder and CEO of Saudagar Nanas Agrofarm.

The visit provided valuable exposure to pineapple cultivation as a tourism product, as well as insights into downstream product development and agro-based business management.

BENCHMARKING VISIT TO UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA (UPM), SERDANG

On 4 May 2026, the Faculty of Agrotechnology and Applied Sciences (FAAS), i-CATS University College, conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang, with a particular focus on the Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours (BSP-ODL) programme. The FAAS delegation was led by the Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Aida Shafreena Ahmad Puad, and accompanied by Mr. Clement Empaling, Head of Programme for the Master in Agriculture Management (MAM); Mdm. Siti Astella Johari, Head of Programme for the Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Agrotechnology (BSA); and Ts. Emilda Edwin Samaie, Head of Programme for the Bachelor of Technology in Agro-Based Industry (BOT).

The visit was warmly received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Juwaidah Sharifuddin, Deputy Dean (Academic, Student Affairs and Alumni), Faculty of Agriculture, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Martini Mohammad Yusoff, Coordinator of BSP-ODL Programme, Faculty of Agriculture, AP. Dr. Puteri Edaroyati and Mr. Hanis Johari (Penolong Pendaftar).

The visit aims to share experience and effective approaches in the implementation of Open Distance Learning (ODL) programmes for our faculty in future.
May this meaningful benchmarking visit helps to drive excellence in education and innovation in agrotechnology.
