Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus is the only international campus of Swinburne University, Australia.
The Sarawak campus was established in Kuching, the capital city of the Malaysian state of Sarawak, in 2000. It is jointly owned by Swinburne University of Technology Australia & the Sarawak Government through Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) & Sarawak Higher Education Foundation. The establishment of the Sarawak campus is in tandem with Malaysia's goal of becoming an educational centre of exce
llence. All degree courses offered by Swinburne Sarawak are approved by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Situated at a prime location about 15 minutes from the heart of Kuching, the 16.5-acre campus currently has a student population of more than 2,500. The university expects to have 5,000 students in the next five years. The campus was expanded in 2008 & comprises several new buildings that are custom-designed for the schools of Engineering & Science, Computing & Design, Business & Enterprise. New facilities also include a lecture theatre, library & multi-purpose hall as well as two blocks of fully furnished four-storey hostels which can house more than 400 students. The Sarawak campus is only a short distance to major commercial centres, food courts & public transport. Kuching is largest city in Sarawak & rapidly developing, boasting a population of more than 600,000. In the city are bustling shopping hubs & eclectic buildings, with a mix of modern & post-colonial architecture. Voted as one of the most liveable cities in Asia in the year 2000, Kuching is a superb choice for local & international students to pursue quality tertiary education.
