♻️ Curiosity Leads to Another Discovery... 📄✨

Just when we thought our paper journey had come to an end, another question sparked the children's curiosity.

After watching a video about how used paper can be recycled into new paper, the children excitedly asked,
"Can we make recycled paper too?"

There was only one way to find out!
The children collected used paper from the classroom and began experimenting. They tore the paper into small pieces, soaked it in water, blended it into pulp, and carefully followed the same paper-making process they had learnt earlier.

To their delight, the recycled paper turned out beautifully!

The children then transformed their handmade recycled paper into greeting cards decorated with dried flowers and other natural materials. Each piece was unique and filled with creativity.

Through this experience, the children discovered that paper doesn't always have to be thrown away. Old paper can be given a new life and become something beautiful again.

This project has shown our young learners that curiosity leads to discovery, and every small action whether reducing, reusing, or recycling can help protect our environment.

🌳 From Trees to Paper – Can We Make Our Own? 📄

As our investigation continued, the children discovered something surprising...
Paper comes from trees!

This sparked even more questions:�🌿 What kind of trees are used to make paper?�🌿 How is paper made?�🌿 Can we make paper ourselves?
Through videos, research, and discussions, the children learnt about the paper-making process and discovered that one of the trees used for handmade paper is the mulberry tree.

To their excitement, they realised there was a mulberry tree in our school, and one of our teachers generously shared even more mulberry bark from her own garden.
The children eagerly accepted the challenge of making paper from scratch.

From soaking and peeling the bark to boiling, blending, and forming each sheet of paper, every step required patience, teamwork, and perseverance. Although peeling the bark was not easy, the children never gave up.

To everyone's delight, their very first attempt was a success!

More than just learning how paper is made, the children experienced the value of hard work and began to appreciate the effort and natural resources needed to produce every single sheet of paper.

Learning is always more meaningful when children discover the answers for themselves.

🌿 The Journey of Paper Begins... 📄

Have you ever wondered what would happen if paper suddenly disappeared?

Our project began when the teachers noticed that the children believed paper would always be available in the classroom. Every day, they freely used the paper from our classroom corner for drawing, writing, and creating, without realising how precious it really is.

So one day, the paper corner was left empty.

When the children were asked to make Hari Raya cards, they excitedly went to the paper corner, only to discover that there was no paper. They quickly told the teacher, "We can't make the cards because there's no paper!"

Instead of giving them more paper, the teacher challenged them to think of another way. Some children wrote on their palms, some on the tables, and some even drew on the classroom walls. It was through this experience that they began to realise just how important paper is in our daily lives.

Our investigation then continued beyond the classroom.

The children interviewed their parents to discover how paper is used at home, the different types of paper they use, and how much paper is used every day.
To deepen their understanding, they also interviewed professionals, including a doctor, a banker, and the teachers and principal of a nearby primary school.
The children were amazed to learn how much paper is used every day. More importantly, they discovered that many professionals practise reducing, reusing, and recycling paper whenever possible.
This simple classroom challenge became the beginning of a meaningful journey, one that nurtures appreciation, curiosity, and environmental responsibility.

🌱 From Farm to Plate: Little Hands, Big Lessons! 🍽️

Ever wondered how the veggies on our plates get their start? Our little farmers found out firsthand during our Project-Based Learning (PBL) adventure!

To make this learning journey truly special, we invited some amazing agricultural experts to guide our children through the proper, step-by-step way to plant. From soil to sprout, our kids got their hands dirty and learned what it takes to nurture a living thing. ✨

🌾 What Our Little Farmers Mastered:

Soil Preparation: Learning how to ready the perfect home for their new green friends.

Delicate Handling: Discovering how to gently transfer fragile seedlings into their polybags without hurting the roots.

The Art of Watering: Finding the perfect balance of hydration to help their plants thrive (not too little, not too much!).

Sensory Exploration:Touching the earth, smelling the soil, and connecting deeply with nature.

This hands-on experience didn't just teach the kids about gardening; it taught them patience, responsibility, and a deep appreciation for the food they eat every day.

Learning from Our First Harvest
The children's first attempt at growing vegetables was exciting, but it also came with challenges. Some of the plants were overwatered and became flooded, so they did not grow. The children also noticed that their vegetables were much smaller than those sold at the wet market.
Wanting to find out why, the children learned from the experts at HFE Agro. The experts taught the children that healthy plants need the right balance of sunlight, water, and plant nutrients called fertilisers to grow strong and healthy.
Although the first harvest was not perfect, the journey does not end here. The children are ready to plant again using their new knowledge, and now they are patiently waiting to observe the results over the coming weeks.

Our Investigation Continues
After interviewing the aunties, uncles, and popo at the wet market, the children gathered many interesting facts. They discovered that some vegetables come directly from farms, while others are grown in home gardens. They also learned that vegetables need seeds, soil, water, and sunlight to grow.
Inspired by what they had learned, the children decided to become little farmers. Together, they planted their own vegetables and began observing how they grow, taking the next step in their "From Farm to Plate" learning journey.

From Farm to Plate:
How Our Journey Began
One morning, our teacher walked into the classroom carrying a basket of fresh vegetables. She smiled and said, "I'm running late preparing lunch today. Could you help me wash and cut these vegetables?"

The children were excited to help. As they washed, peeled, and prepared the vegetables, they talked about their favourites some loved carrots, while others preferred potatoes or tomatoes. After cooking, the teacher let them taste the vegetables, and many were surprised to find them delicious.
This led the teacher to ask an important question:
"Do you know where vegetables come from?"
The children gave different answers some said "the kitchen," others said "the supermarket," while a few were unsure. The teacher encouraged them to find out more, sparking curiosity about how vegetables grow and reach our plates.

During the discussion, one child suggested, "Maybe we can ask aunty at the wet market!" This idea excited everyone. The children decided to go on a mission to buy vegetables from their shopping list and ask the market aunty where vegetables come from. This marked the beginning of our "From Farm to Plate" learning journey.

✨ Hari Raya Celebration Throwback at Tadika Kurnia 🌙🕌

Last Friday, our school was filled with joy, laughter, and festive cheer as we celebrated Hari Raya together!Our little ones looked absolutely adorable in their beautiful traditional attire, bringing colour and festive spirit to the school. 💚✨

Throughout the celebration, the children enjoyed learning cheerful Hari Raya songs, discovering the joy of music and culture together. They also learned the meaningful tradition of giving salam to their teachers and friends, a lovely way to show respect, kindness, and togetherness.

One of the highlights of the day was getting hands-on in making festive kuih with their friends and teachers. It was a fun and memorable experience filled with teamwork, smiles, and yummy treats!

It was truly a meaningful day filled with culture, learning, and beautiful memories shared together as one Tadika Kurnia family.
