How to be unstoppable

As people who care about and support neurodivergent people, we must model and use the most inclusive and up to date terminology. Understanding why the language changes happen, facilitate an educated change to promote compassion and support.
Non-speaking is important because it demonstrates that just because they aren’t saying verbal words, they are still making sounds and vocalisations.
Behaviours of concern is needed because we are the one with the concern rather than the person who is displaying them.
Co-morbid conditions is an outdated medical term because the diagnoses are co-occurring constantly at the same time.
We use Autism rather than autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as the inclusion of disorder is not neurodiverse-affirming.
We talk and write about neurodivergents’ passions rather than fixations especially as a lot of the time, these change unlike fixations.
Tantrums is excessively overused and has negative connotations so we talk about emotional outbursts that everyone experiences of all ages and abilities.
We don’t use red flags and instead speak objectively about indicators of neurodivergence
