AI, smart systems would drive ZIPS productivity, experts advise.

According to Prof Dr Yeong Yik Sung, director of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu’s Institute of Climate and Marine Biotechnology (ICAMB), integrated facilities such as processing hubs, logistics centres, and research and development (R&D) units would play an important role in elevating Malaysia’s fisheries industry value.

ICAMB successfully organized the Free Market ICAMB programme in conjunction with Hari Lestari UMT on 23 April 2026 at the ICAMB Building parking area, from 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM. The programme received an encouraging response from the UMT community, including students, staff, and the surrounding local community, highlighting strong support for sustainable and sharing-based initiatives.

Participants were encouraged to bring their own bags – no plastic, and to take what they need, share what they can. The initiative promoted giving pre-loved items a second life, accessing useful items for free, supporting a zero-waste lifestyle, and strengthening a caring community.
