🦺 Putting HSE First at INSTEP!

On 28 July 2026, INSTEP’s HSE Department, together with the Campus & Asset Management team, hosted an engagement session with Partners’ Leadership & Management teams, bringing together 22 contractor companies from across Malaysia.

The session focused on:
🔹 HSE Performance Sharing
🔹 Personal Accountability & the importance of putting safety first
🔹 Leadership Forum & Q&A on HSE matters 💬

🤝 Also joining us was Head of Regional Properties, KLCCUH, En. Mohamed Makarimi Mokhtar alongside En. Abdul Rauf M. Yusof, who led the pledge to uphold integrity and HSE in everything we do, no matter how important the job is.

🌍 A journey of learning, collaboration and lasting connections.

INSTEP was proud to host the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) 2026, welcoming 10 representatives from China, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Zambia, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, and Bangladesh, representing various national organisations. 🤝

Throughout the programme, participants embarked on an enriching learning journey that began with an induction at INSTEP’s Batu Rakit campus, followed by interactive classroom sessions, hands-on exposure at the Upstream Downstream Training Plant (UDTP), and a site visit to the Centre for Renewable Energy Offshore (CEFORE), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). ⚙️🌱

Together, we shared knowledge, exchanged ideas, and strengthened international partnerships in developing future-ready technical capabilities.

As this chapter comes to a close, it’s not goodbye, it’s see you again. 👋 We look forward to welcoming you back to INSTEP for more enriching learning experiences and continued collaboration in the future.

🌏 Strengthening Regional Collaboration Through Learning

INSTEP was honoured to welcome delegates from Ministério Do Petróleo E Recursos Minerais Timor Leste, led by Antonio Nobre Tilman, the Chair of the Panel, for a business networking visit on 28 June 2026.

During the visit, the delegates toured INSTEP’s learning facilities, including the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Process & Analytical workshops, where they observed learners participating in hands-on practical training and experienced how technical capabilities are developed in a real-world learning environment.

Together with our ASEAN neighbours, we remain committed to supporting nation development by nurturing a skilled, future-ready technical workforce that contributes to sustainable growth and progress across the region. ✨

Fresh perspectives, real experiences, and inspiring insights! 💡

In this episode, hear from Syira and Hj. Zahari of Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) as they share their thoughts on the P1VOT Tier 1 Asset Integrity Self-Assurance (AIS) Training, in conjunction with the inaugural cohort from 5–9 July 2026 at INSTEP, Batu Rakit.

Designed for participants from Petroleum Arrangement Contractors (PACs), the programme equips future Tier 1 AIS Assessors with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to strengthen asset integrity and drive operational excellence.

Following the success of the inaugural and second cohort with the third cohort scheduled for October 2026, further strengthening the pipeline of competent assurance practitioners across the industry.

Preparing future engineers goes beyond the classroom, it requires real-world exposure, hands-on experience, and a deeper understanding of industry practices.

INSTEP has launched its inaugural customised training programme for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), providing students with experiential learning that bridges academic knowledge with real-world oil and gas operations. Held at the INSTEP campus in Batu Rakit, Terengganu, the 10-day programme combines classroom learning, hands-on activities, and plant exposure to bridge the gap between theory and industrial application.

Ts. Azhar Ahmad, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, INSTEP, emphasised that the programme provides students with a valuable opportunity to experience the connection between engineering concepts learned in academia and their real-world applications in the energy industry.

What better way to wrap up ten months of learning than with good company, great food and a touch of Terengganu tradition? Before heading off for their plant familiarisation, 20TEP learners and INSTEP staff gathered for a casual appreciation session, dressed in colourful batik to celebrate the end of an unforgettable chapter at INSTEP.

The Technical Enhancement Programme (TEP) under sponsorship of PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB), which commenced in September 2025 equipped learners with ten months of intensive technical training through a combination of classroom learning, practical sessions and hands-on simulations.
