THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL AUDITORS MALAYSIA (IIA Malaysia) is a non-profit professional organisation dedicated to the advancement and development of the internal audit profession in Malaysia. IIA Malaysia was established in 1977 as a Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc, USA and elevated to the status of a National Institute in 1988 when our membership exceeded the 500 mark. In July 1

994, IIA Malaysia was incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee and since then, we have grown progressively in size and stature. Our Affiliation to The IIA, USA

IIA Malaysia is affiliated to The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc (The IIA), USA, a worldwide body founded in 1941 by a small group of dedicated internal auditors who wanted an organisation that would represent their profession and provide educational activities and standards for the professional practice of internal auditing. Through our affiliation our members are able to share in a collective wisdom of more than 170,000 members in over 165 countries and territories. ACIIA is a confederation of sixteen(16) IIA affiliates in the Asia Pacific ; Australia, Azerbaijan,China, Chinese Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea,Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Chinese Taiwan and Thailand. The Public Sector Internal Audit Conference 2026 has successfully concluded.

Jointly organised with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the conference brought together public sector leaders and practitioners to share insights and strengthen governance practices.

With the theme “Internal Audit 360°: Driving Trust, Innovation and Strategic Impact in Public Sector Governance,” discussions focused on the evolving role of internal audit, including digital transformation, AI governance, and risk management.

We were honoured to have the keynote address delivered by YBhg. Dato’ Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia, National Audit Department, setting the tone for meaningful discussions throughout the event.

The IIA Malaysia team successfully participated in the Career & Internship Fair organised by NOVAC-TISSA UUM on 19–20 April 2026.

It was a meaningful opportunity to engage with close to 200 students at our booth, raising awareness of internal audit as a profession and sharing how it can serve as a strong career pathway. Initiatives like this allow us to plant the seeds early—introducing students to the profession as a valuable stepping stone from their university journey into the working world.

We are also pleased to share that 15 students were successfully registered as members of IIA Malaysia during the fair.
