Dear parents,
Welcome back to Playtots!! This year, we decided to start with the theme: Back to school!! We understand that new schooling experience can be uneasy or maybe a little worry for our young ones, therefore we would like to ease their anxiety with this theme.

We did a short sharing session about their new school and new classroom just to find out if they are fine with everything at the moment. We were glad that most of them love their new teachers and friends.

For art and craft, we asked them to make paper puppets of their teachers and best friends. Then, we performed a puppet show by using their puppets to bring out scenes that will happen in the classroom. We also asked for their opinion how to solve conflicts between friends and how to respect their teachers. The children laughed and giggled a lot at the puppet show. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ They found it very funny!

As for snacks, we served wheat biscuits, pomelo and bananas. To our surprise, they are able to finished everything!!! ๐Ÿ˜† We hope to see you next Saturday! Have a great evening! โ˜บ

Dear parents,
It was another fun week for messy play. For yesterday's messy play, we made some frozenโ„paint ๐ŸŽจ cubes โžก "paintsicles" for the children to paint with. This activity provides a fun, sensory and unique painting experience for the children. The children loved swirling them round and round and watching the colour come off as the cube slowly melted on the mahjong paper. We are so happy to see the children's beautiful products too.
As for snacks, we had some Japanese seaweed, edamame and green tea for the children to try. They enjoyed eating the seaweed with their friends. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Gentle reminders:
Our theme for next month is "Pets" ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฃ

Thank you and have a lovely weekends. See you next week๐Ÿ˜

Dear parents,
Last Saturday was a fun-filled day with a very interesting topic --- EARTHQUAKE!!

In the beginning, our children had free play with kinesthetics sand. They enjoyed performing some 'magic tricks' with the sand and objects provided! ๐Ÿ˜†

After that, we introduce the topic of the day which is 'Earthquake' as this is one of the most common natural disasters in Japan. Our children have very limited knowledge about this topic as they aren't exposed to natural disaster yet. We showed them a video on how earthquakes occur and what happens when it occurs. Our children were shocked by how powerful is the damage caused by an earthquake and it got them into thinking on how people can survive in that situation.

As Japan has very advance technology for earthquake-proofing buildings, the Science activity for the children is to try to build a house with toothpicks and play dough. They need to make sure the house they build is strong enough to survive in vigorous shake. It is interesting to see how each child finding their own idea to build a strong base house. The most important attitude that we observed in our children is NEVER GIVE UP! When their toothpicks houses collapsed, they tried to make another one. Well done!!! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

After the time is up, the teachers will start shaking the table and see whose houses are still standing firmly on surface.

Our snack for the day is Japanese biscuits. We will try to get some other Japanese products for the children to try during snack time in correlation to the theme. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Next week we will have messy play. Please bring a set of change for your child in case of getting a little mess. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Dear parents,
We have started our new theme in October which is 'JAPAN' ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต! Our children are very excited as we are going to explore Japanese cultures together for the month! ๐Ÿ˜†

We introduced the flag of Japan and showed them the map of Japan for a brief idea where it is located. They also learned some simple Japanese words from Riru! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We did two art and crafts on that day:
1) Koinobori (Japanese Carp Windsocks) - Japanese families hang this at the door on Children's Day in honor of children for a good future and in the hope that they will grow up healthy and strong.

2) Japanese fan (which is one of the most significant things in Japan. Fans were variously used by warriors as a form of weapon, by actors and dancers for performances, and by children as a toy.

Overall, our children enjoyed the both crafts and we were short of time for snack as they were too engrossed with their works. We had raisins and buns before we ended the class.

Next Saturday, we are doing cookery. We will cook Japanese curry rice with the children. We have chosen the mild curry to ensure it is not spicy for the children to consume. โ˜บ๏ธ Seaweed and sesame seeds will be one of our ingredients. Please inform us in advance if your child has any food allergy. Thank you~

We will see you very soon! Have a good rest! ๐Ÿ˜„

Dear parents,
Last Saturday, during the free play time, the children painted their very special placemats.

Before we started the cookery session, we enact a story "The stone soup" on the white board. The story started with a poor girl who was cooking her soup with some stones. While the story goes on, the children continue the story with providing some creatives suggestions such as the what ingredients to put in to make the soup tastier.
After the story telling session, it's time to make our creamy chicken and mushroom ๐Ÿ„ soup!!!

Ingredients for the soup:
โœ”Campbell chicken and mushroom soup can
โœ”sweet corn ๐ŸŒฝ

โœ”button mushrooms ๐Ÿ„
The children got to cut all the ingredients into small cubes and we cooked the soup in a pot! They really enjoy eating the bread ๐Ÿž and soup together!

The story started from a group of friends went on an adventure and eventually they reached at a volcano, we continue our story by making a volcano with flour and water, and then we went outdoor for an eruption experiment. The children poured a little white vinegar in their volcanoes, added some red food colouring for the lava effect, and put some baking soda into the mixture. It EXPLODED!!! ๐ŸŒ‹๐Ÿ’ขThe children were cheering when they see their volcanoes erupted! They loved the experiment and did it a few times.

The children enjoyed a lot in creating different characters.
As for the art and craft class session, the children made their "ALL ABOUT ME" story book out of paper bags. Paper bags book are so much fun to create and the best part is that they have all sorts of fun pockets for hiding little treasures. The children had so much fun in decorating and putting their little secret into the pockets of the "book".

Dear parents,
Yesterday we went for a field trip to dental clinic. This is to introduce the occupation of 'dentist' and also to get firsthand experience for children to visit a dental clinic.

We had a short briefing about the field trip before we depart to ease the children's nervousness as all of them have never visit a dental clinic before. We talked about the roles and responsibilities of a dentist and what to expect while they are checking their teeth.

When we arrived, our children were excited and worried at the same time. However, they were very brave while the dentist was checking their teeth! Out of expectation, they ENJOYED the experience very much! We were very happy and proud of them!!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

After that, the dentist allowed them to do some role play in the room and he taught them to take care of their teeth. All the children were given a small gift (toothpaste & toothbrush) as an encouragement.

We had KFC nuggets and mashed potato for lunch before we go back to school. Overall, it was a pleasant field trip and the children had lots of fun! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

Dear parents,
Last Saturday we went for a short field to post office. This is to let our children experience posting a letter as well as introducing the occupation of 'postman'.

Each of them drew something for their daddy and mommy, then fold the paper to put into an envelope. Then, they need to write their house address on the letter.

When we reached the post office, they need to get a queue number and go to the counter accordingly to buy a stamp.

After that, they put the stamp on the letter and drop it in the mailbox.

Our children were so proud of themselves as they are able to do everything under minimal guidance.

Please tell us if you have received the love letter from your child. ๐Ÿ˜„
