We provide specialist training programmes, courses and support in all areas related to choral music, including choral singing, choral conducting, musicianship and also organize exchange programmes with our growing network of choirs around the world. At the heart of our work, we provide a training platform for those interested to work with children, school and youth choirs, as well as to encourage the formation and management of choirs. We also prepare choirs for international festivals, competitions, workshops and aim to develop tomorrow’s base of choral teachers using the Kodaly Method certification courses and the International Federation of Choral Music joint programmes. Another important aspect of our work at the Academy is in the publication of Malaysian choral works where we commission new original works and arrangements from Malaysian composers which are then published under our very own Young Choral Academy Publications. The Young Choral Academy also offers individual music lessons and is home to several award-winning choirs namely The Kuala Lumpur Children’s Choir, The Young Kuala Lumpur Singers, four Youth Chamber Choirs – Naturally Vocal, Vox Vivacis, New Edge, and The Subang Jaya Youth Chamber Choir and the semi-professional Kuala Lumpur Vocal Ensemble. We are proud to be the organizer of the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod. This annual nationwide event serves as a platform for singers, choirs, choral conductors and teachers to come together during the holidays to work with a distinguished team of professional choral clinicians from abroad. Since 2009, the Eisteddfod’s Outreach Programme has been in place where tutors are sent to different states to work with singers and choirs, thus widening our reach within Malaysia. Our work at the Eisteddfod is supported by several world organizations including Interkultur Foundation (Germany) and the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM). The Young Choral Academy believes in giving back to society and in 2004, Voices of Hope (VoH) was formed as the official charity arm of the Academy. Our mission is to see choral singing making a real difference in the lives of a greater community. Above all we are a fun loving organization, dedicated to Enriching Life Through Singing!
