Fourteen students from the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) programme at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore, India, participated in the Inbound Student Mobility Programme hosted by the IMU School of Pharmacy from 6β17 April 2026.
The study visit provided valuable clinical exposure through patient care activities, simulated ward rounds, and learning opportunities related to global pharmacy education and clinical practice. The programme also enabled students to gain insights into international research and healthcare systems, strengthen their professional, communication, and cultural competencies, and compare patient care practices across different healthcare settings.
Beyond academic and clinical learning, the students also enjoyed exploring Malaysia and visiting local attractions. We are pleased to have hosted the students and look forward to more meaningful international collaborations in pharmacy education.

π Celebrating Excellence at the National Stage! π
It is with immense pride that we share the outstanding achievements of our pharmacy students at the 6th MyPSA National Pharmacy Competition (NPC) 2026, hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia last week.
Amidst strong competition from institutions across Malaysia, our students rose to the occasion and brought home three well-deserved podium finishes:
π₯ 1st Runner-Up β Piala Aishah Compounding Challenge
Yixine Chong | Song Teck Yee
π₯ 2nd Runner-Up β Clinical Challenge
Melanie Lim Zi Ye | Yip Jin Hui | Wong Jin Hin
π₯ 3rd Runner-Up β Pharmacy Quiz
Tan Fern Yee | Chew Sin Tze | Chua Jian Yan | Peh Wen Jie
These results are a testament to far more than academic preparation. They reflect the resilience, discipline, and professional maturity that these students have cultivated throughout their journey at IMU University. Behind every podium moment were countless hours of practice, peer learning, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
As educators, it is deeply fulfilling to witness our students carry the values of the pharmacy profession β precision, collaboration, and evidence-based thinking β beyond the lecture hall and onto a national stage.
To each of you: you have not only made IMU proud, but you have also set a powerful example for the next generation of pharmacy students. This is just the beginning. π
Congratulations, and keep reaching higher. π

π Congratulations to Chung Xu Hoe! π
The School proudly celebrates Chung Xu Hoe, a Semester 1 student from IMU Pharmaceutical Chemistry programme, for winning the Silver Award at INNOVEX 2026 β a premier global online innovation competition that champions creativity, sustainable development, and meaningful impact across industries.
Competing among 239 participants worldwide, Xu Hoe impressed the judges with his outstanding innovation: a reusable gel-based sensor designed to detect harmful chemicals in water. These specially formulated gel beads change colour upon contact with pollutants such as oxalic acid, while remaining physically intact, making them a practical and sustainable detection method.
His innovation goes even further with CHEL, a compact portable device that integrates the gel sensor with a colour sensor and simple electronics. CHEL interprets colour changes and converts them into clear alert signalsβproviding an accessible, user-friendly way to identify water contamination.
Xu Hoeβs aspiration to create sustainable, health-focused technologies that protect both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems shines through this project. His achievement reflects the spirit of innovation we strive to cultivate, and we hope it inspires fellow students to pursue impactful solutions that benefit communities at large.
π Congratulations once again, Xu Hoe!
Your dedication, creativity, and commitment to sustainability make us incredibly proud.
