KLPC 2025 brought together policymakers, scholars, and peace practitioners from across Southeast Asia to explore pathways for human-centred security — from Myanmar and the Rohingya crisis to Patani and Malaysia’s evolving role as a regional peacebuilder.

Hosted by The Nippon Foundation and organised by IMAN Research, the conference marks an important step toward shaping a more peaceful and cooperative region.

Dr. Akiko Horiba, Program Director at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (Japan) and Senior Non-Resident Fellow at Georgetown University’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security.

With more than a decade of experience in conflict-affected communities, Dr. Horiba will share insights from the Patani peace process and highlight why the Women, Peace & Security (WPS) agenda is critical to building sustainable and inclusive peace.

Tun Abdullah actually opened up civil society in Malaysia, He was the first statesman and former leader to give audience to IMAN Research when we were just starting and encouraged us to do the work.
