We were the students from the year of 1980 to 1985. Our school name as Sekolah Menengah Datok Lokman. Mohd. Khir Johari, Minister of Education at that time.
On March 15, 1969, the school building was officially opened by the Honourable Mr. In 1971, SMKDL declared as High School when Form Four arts stream is started. Consequently, graduate teachers sent to teach SMDKL.

In 1990, the school changed the face of a boys school became a mixed school. It was then named as SMK Datok Lokman.
In 1975, the school was named Sekolah Menengah Datok Lokman named after the mayor of Kuala Lumpur, the late Tan Sri Datok Lokman bin Yusof. On 30 April 1979, a Lower Sixth grade Science was established for the first time.
