From Special Needs Piano lessons towards broader art education needs for special needs students. From regular piano lessons for special needs students (mostly ASD), and now towards a fresh concept derived from music education which called MUSIC SERVICE for the special needs. This
includes:
1) Works hand-in-hand with therapy
2) Does not diagnose – to provide extra services/advices/consultation in terms of music learning only. But through music learning, we can advise and help parents to look for the direction to pursue and how it benefit the children's personal ability.
3) Works on individuals strengths and weaknesses – work on case by case basis
4) Helps improve certain skills: Simple improvements in cognitive abilities, motor, social skills and behaviour
Although piano lessons are mainly conducted in APD, but alongside with much more musical explorations with different instruments and different musical skills to enhance the students ability as well. Each student has their own goal and targets to achieve in the journey of musical learning. To master the piano skills (which largely benefiting the growth of motor skills, logical skills, musical skills, coordination and visual skills) may or may not be the final outcome, but most importantly to evidence the growth of the students.
