This June, Europe in Cinema, courtesy of the Embassy of Georgia in Malaysia 🇬🇪, takes us deep into the breathtaking mountains of Georgia with the multiple award-winning drama 🎬 "Dede", directed by Mariam Khatchvani.

Set in a remote village in 1992, “Dede” follows young Dina, whose life is bound by centuries-old traditions and promises made on her behalf. But when love unexpectedly enters her life, she is forced to confront a difficult question: “Should we follow the path chosen for us — or the one our heart desires?”

This week’s proverb reminds us that things are often easier said than done 👇😄

🗣️ “Del dicho al hecho hay un gran trecho”

This Spanish proverb means that there can be a big difference between what people say and what they actually do. Talking about something is easy — putting it into practice is often much harder. 🚶✨

It’s commonly used when someone makes big promises, ambitious plans or confident statements… but then struggles to follow through.

At the Instituto Cervantes in Kuala Lumpur, we know that speaking about learning Spanish is one thing… but practicing every week is what really makes the difference! 😉📚

El refrán de esta semana nos recuerda que decir algo suele ser mucho más fácil que hacerlo 👇😄

🗣️ «Del dicho al hecho hay un gran trecho»

Este refrán significa que a menudo existe una gran diferencia entre lo que las personas dicen y lo que realmente hacen. Hablar es fácil; llevar las cosas a la práctica no siempre lo es. 🚶✨

Se utiliza mucho cuando alguien hace grandes promesas, planes ambiciosos o habla con mucha seguridad… pero luego le cuesta cumplirlo.

This May... 👉BENENGELI 2026, the 6th annual World Week of Spanish-Language Literature organized by the Instituto Cervantes, will run from May 25–29, 2026. This global, hybrid festival connects five continents, focusing on the theme "Libraries" as spaces of memory and creation. Events include conversations, panels, and digital activities involving over 100 authors across 13 Cervantes centers.
Participating Cities: Sidney, MANILA 🙌, Brussels, Bordeaux, Madrid, Manchester, Paris, Orán, Dakar, Belo Horizonte, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Este mes de mayo... 👉BENENGELI, el festival literario del Instituto Cervantes, llega a su sexta edición.
Asentado como un referente dentro de la lengua española, sus actividades presenciales y digitales se desarrollarán durante una semana en los cinco continentes, convirtiéndolo en un fenómeno único y global.
Benengeli 2026 tendrá como eje temático el espacio de las bibliotecas, esa forma del Paraíso, como las imaginó Borges.
Sídney, Manila, Bruselas, Burdeos, Madrid, Mánchester, París, Orán Dakar, Belo Horizonte, Nueva York, Chicago y Los Ángeles serán el escenario de estos encuentros virtuales y presenciales, a las que se sumarán como ciudades invitadas Caguas, Caracas, Edimburgo y Quito. Dentro de este gran circuito global se incluyen también actividades multimedia realizadas por colaboradores en las ciudades de Praga, Sevilla, Bogotá, Ciudad de Panamá y Miami; conformando en su conjunto un gran mosaico de las letras. De este modo, Benengeli eleva su propuesta hasta consolidar una gran red cultural global en la que caben, a modo de biblioteca espiritual, un crisol de culturas literarias.
Más de 100 invitados explorarán la relación que lo literario desarrolla con el universo de las bibliotecas en un viaje hacia esa imaginación personal y colectiva en la que los libros son una señal de reconocimiento del otro, de crecimiento hacia la intimidad humana.
Benengeli, el único festival literario que recorre los 5 continentes, te invita a participar. En Manila, el 26 y 27 de mayo. ¡No te lo pierdas! 🙂

✨ Last Friday morning, Aula Cervantes Kuala Lumpur and the Embassy of Spain in Malaysia took part in the International Week at UCSI School.

During our visit, we gave a short talk about Spain and the Spanish language, sharing cultural and linguistic insights with the students. We also brought along some traditional Spanish food for them to try: Spanish omelette and empanada! 🥔🥟

It was a very enriching experience, where we also enjoyed presentations from many other countries. We loved seeing so many students actively participating and wearing traditional outfits from their cultures 🌍👘

Thank you to UCSI for the invitation and for promoting such an international and diverse environment!

🇪🇸✨ El pasado viernes por la mañana, el Aula Cervantes de Kuala Lumpur y la Embajada de España en Malasia participamos en la Semana Internacional de la escuela UCSI.

Durante la visita, ofrecimos una pequeña charla sobre España y el español a los alumnos, compartiendo aspectos culturales y lingüísticos de nuestro país. Además, llevamos un pedacito de nuestra gastronomía para que pudieran degustarlo: ¡tortilla y empanada! 🥔🥟

Fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora, en la que también pudimos disfrutar de presentaciones de muchos otros países. Nos encantó ver a tantos estudiantes participando y vistiendo los trajes tradicionales de sus culturas 🌍👘

¡Gracias a UCSI por la invitación y por fomentar un ambiente tan internacional y diverso!

🗣️ “Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda.”

This Spanish proverb means that changing someone’s appearance does not change who they really are. No matter how elegant or sophisticated something may look on the outside, its true nature remains the same. 🐒✨

It’s often used humorously when talking about people, situations or things that try to appear better, more luxurious or more important than they really are. It is a very common saying and usually said with a playful tone 😉
