Strength • Discipline • Confidence

How children learn to move matters.

The way they train shapes their coordination, focus and confidence over time.

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines kicks, defensive movements, acrobatic skills, music and community. Children develop coordination, balance, focus and confidence while learning discipline, respect, and how to work with others.

Rooted in rhythm and tradition, children also become familiar with the songs and instruments of Capoeira, participating in the music that guides the game.

Children develop:

✔ Strong movement foundations
✔ Focus, discipline, and confidence
✔ Kicks, defensive movements, and acrobatic skills
✔ Familiarity with Capoeira songs and instruments
✔ A sense of community and teamwork

Banda

Otherwise known as “sweep kick”.

The aim is to pull your opponent’s leg - like a broom sweeping the floor - to make them lose balance and fall.

Quick thinking and precision at play.

Vingativa is a deceptive attack in capoeira that uses a quick leg sweep or hook to off-balance your opponent. Like many takedowns in capoeira, it blends timing, malandragem, and fluid movement, showing that the art is about strategy and intelligence, not just strength.

It all began for Rafa in his home town, Montes Carlos with his master, Mestre Tadeu. To be receiving his Contra Mestre belt from Mestre Tadeu on home soil is a very special moment.

1. Mestre Tadeu and Contra Mestre Rafael
2. Mestre Tyson announcing Rafael’s name for his next belt
3. Special words for Rafa
4. Changing of belts
5. A respectful game between master and student
6. Mestre Tyson and Contra Mestre Rafael
7. Left Malaysia a Professor, coming back as Contra Mestre
