The afternoon session of the Cardiac Nursing Symposium 2026 explored how technology, specialised education, and advanced practice are shaping the future of cardiac nursing.

🔹 Digital Transformation in Cardiac Nursing
Puan Siti Mariam Ramli highlighted how digital innovation and data-driven healthcare are transforming cardiac care while keeping the human touch at the heart of nursing.

🔹 Cardiac Specialization in Education and Practice: Towards the ANP Role
Dr. Azimah Mohd Masri, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, IJN University College, explored the importance of specialised cardiac nursing education and the development of Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs).

The symposium concluded with a forum, “From Prevention to Rehabilitation: Advancing Integrated and Patient-Centered Care,” moderated by Ms. Selvanayagi, with panelists Ms. Paramaeswary, Ms. Arni Azura, and Ms. Jamalia Jaafar.

❤️ Advancing Excellence Across the Cardiac Care Journey

At the Cardiac Nursing Symposium 2026, participants gained valuable insights from two inspiring sessions by Arni Azura Abd Karim, Nurse Manager, Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory (ICL), and Jamalia Jaafar, Heart Failure Coordinator and Deputy Nurse Manager, Patient Education Unit, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN).

🔹 "From Catheterization to Recovery: Excellence in Cardiac Interventions" highlighted the importance of delivering seamless, high-quality care throughout every stage of a patient's cardiac intervention journey, from preparation and procedure to recovery and rehabilitation.
🔹 "Transforming Heart Failure Care: Advanced Strategies" showcased how innovation, patient education, multidisciplinary collaboration, and digital health solutions are transforming heart failure management and enhancing long-term patient outcomes.

Together, both presentations reinforced a common vision: exceptional cardiovascular care goes beyond treatment. It requires continuous care, clinical excellence, patient empowerment, and strong nursing leadership.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, nurses remain at the forefront of driving innovation, coordinating care, supporting recovery, and improving the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular disease.

❤️ Empowering Cardiac Care Through Nursing Excellence and Digital Innovation

The inaugural Cardiac Nursing Symposium 2026, organised by the IJN University College in collaboration with the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), brought together healthcare professionals, educators, students, and industry leaders in a shared commitment to advancing cardiovascular care.

In her welcoming address, Prof. Emerita Dr. Durrishah Idrus, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of IJN University College, emphasised the importance of prevention, health education, early detection, and community engagement in addressing the growing burden of cardiovascular disease. She also recognised the evolving role of nurses as educators, advocates, researchers, leaders, and innovators who are transforming healthcare and improving patient outcomes.

Delivering the keynote address, Datuk Dr. Shaiful Azmi Yahaya, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), highlighted how digital innovation, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and connected healthcare technologies are reshaping the future of cardiac care. He underscored that while technology continues to advance healthcare delivery, compassionate nursing care remains the cornerstone of quality patient outcomes.
Together, both leaders shared a unified vision: a future where innovation, collaboration, lifelong learning, and nursing excellence work hand in hand to create healthier communities and deliver world-class cardiovascular care.
