Did you know that Malaysia’s manufacturing growth is now constrained more by talent than by technology?
This is where industry must shape training.
The German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) programme integrates classroom learning with structured, workplace-based training. The result: skilled, job-ready talent aligned to real production needs.
In Malaysia, GDVT is implemented under the Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI) framework by the Department of Skills Development (JPK), in collaboration with MGCC and B. Braun.
We are honoured that the Director General of JPK will officiate this workshop.
Invitation to Industry Leaders
Manufacturing companies in Penang and Kedah are invited to join the GDVT Industry Immersion Programme — a focused, half-day engagement designed for decision-makers.

Great energy at the Jerayawara UP_TVET Programme in Penang 🙌
We were glad to be part of Series 1 of the 2026 Jerayawara UP_TVET programme at IKTBN Bukit Mertajam, where teachers, and the school community came together to explore TVET pathways and future career options. MGCC was there to introduce the German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) Programme, sharing how hands-on industry training and classroom learning come together in the German model. A big thank you to our GDVT industry partners, B. Braun and VAT, for joining us and sharing real workplace experiences and career journeys under the GDVT programme.
It was great to see strong interest and curiosity from students and educators alike. Programmes like this play an important role in building awareness, confidence, and a skilled future workforce for Penang. 👏⚙️🎓

Our Head of Vocational Training, Kumaran Shanmugam, spent an inspiring week in Shanghai for the AHK Regional Meeting together with colleagues from across the ASEAN and DIHK network.
The sessions were packed with sharing, learning, and exploring new ideas for the future of vocational training. From understanding the latest VET developments in Germany to seeing how companies and training centres in China run their dual training programmes, the visit gave us plenty of fresh insights to bring home.
This kind of regional exchange helps us strengthen Malaysia’s own TVET ecosystem and continue building strong pathways for skilled talent. We’re excited for what’s ahead for GDVT and vocational training in Malaysia!

A proud moment for our GDVT apprentices!
Apprentices from Alcon, Körber Technologies, and BAUER Far East Group received their graduation certificates during the GMI Convocation Ceremony on 8 November 2025, presented by Ms. Ulrike Wolf, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy Kuala Lumpur.
These graduates have successfully completed their 3.5-year Mechatronics programme under the German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) in Malaysia, modelled after Germany’s renowned Ausbildung system. Each graduate received a dual certificate from MGCC–DIHK, Germany, and an Advanced Skills Diploma from Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran - JPK Putrajaya (JPK), Malaysia.
With 70% practical training guided by industry partners and 30% theoretical learning at GMI, the GDVT programme continues to shape Malaysia’s future-ready workforce — skilled, capable, and industry-driven.
Congratulations to all the graduates, partner companies, and GMI for their dedication and commitment to vocational excellence!

On 30 September, we proudly celebrated 10 years of the German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) in Malaysia! 🎉
It was a special milestone marked at the Penang Skills Development Centre together with our partners, sponsors, and the GDVT community. From inspiring addresses to engaging discussions, the day was all about looking back at a decade of achievements — and looking forward to the future of skills development in Malaysia.
Alongside the celebrations, the Industry Outlook 2025 took place, where experts shared valuable perspectives on Malaysia’s talent challenges and the role of human-centric training in an AI-driven world.
A big thank you to our co-host PSDC Penang and our sponsors B. Braun, Bosch Malaysia, Smith+Nephew, and VAT Manufacturing for making this milestone possible. Here’s to another decade of world-class talent development!
