These are the words of UCSI alumnus and Class of 2025 graduate, Muhammad Akmal Ilham Kamarul Zaman.

As a Malay student stepping into one of Malaysia’s most multicultural campuses, Akmal found himself surrounded by peers from over 120 countries. Navigating different cultures, languages, and ways of thinking was not always easy - but that challenge became his greatest teacher, preparing him for the realities of a global workforce long before he ever stepped into one.

As Akmal puts it: “I did not merely earn a degree. I built lifelong friendships, learned leadership, sharpened my interpersonal skills, and gained a deeper understanding of the real working world.”

Since then, the Accounting and Finance graduate has gone from interning at Petronas and SLB to landing a full-time role at one of the Big Four accounting firms.

UCSI was honoured to collaborate with Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Selangor (JPNS) as co-sponsor and venue partner for the Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Kokurikulum Peringkat Negeri Selangor 2025.

This prestigious event celebrated the outstanding achievements of students, educators, and schools across Selangor in co-curricular excellence, bringing together more than 350 students, teachers, education leaders, and distinguished guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Education Malaysia and JPNS.

As part of UCSI’s commitment to empowering education and youth development, UCSI Group Business Development vice-president Sheikh Fahmy Sheikh Mohamed represented the University, delivering welcoming remarks and presenting awards for the Kategori Murid Cemerlang Kokurikulum.

The event also provided an opportunity for UCSI to engage with school leaders, teachers, and students, while showcasing our programmes, study pathways, and scholarship opportunities. UCSI remains committed to empowering future leaders through impactful educational partnerships.
