Prof. Dr. Nik Noor Kaussar Binti Nik Mohd Hatta from Kulliyyah of Nursing and team members for being awarded a grant of Public-Private Research Network (PPRN) by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), worth RM105,000.00 (MOHE) + Cash Contribution RM45,000.00 (iSENTE sdn. Bhd.), with a total amount of RM150,000.00.

IIUM and UMS Forge Research Collaboration Through MoU Signing Ceremony

Kota Kinabalu, 14 April 2025 – In a significant step toward strengthening academic and research partnerships, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance research collaboration between the two institutions. The ceremony, held at Azman Hashim UMS Gallery, was attended by key representatives from both universities, marking a milestone in their shared commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation.

The MoU signing event was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of UMS, Prof. Datuk Dr. Kasim Hj. Mansor, who emphasized the importance of collaborative research in addressing national and global challenges as well as sustaining the economics of Malaysia through research products and establish a conducive maritime law. Also, in attendance was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of UMS, along with the Director of the Research Management Centre (RMC) of IIUM, representing the university’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research.

This partnership aims to facilitate collaborative research projects, faculty and student exchanges, as well as the sharing of resources and expertise in fields such as maritime law to ensure the sustainability and legally protection on the marine science.

This partnership between IIUM and UMS is expected to pave the way for future academic and research endeavors, benefiting not only the institutions but also the broader society. By combining their expertise, both universities aim to produce high-impact research that aligns with national development goals and global sustainability agendas.

The event concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation and a shared vision for long-term collaboration. With this MoU, IIUM and UMS have taken a decisive step toward fostering innovation, academic excellence, and meaningful research contributions.

This strategic alliance marks the beginning of a promising partnership that will undoubtedly contribute to Malaysia’s academic and research advancement.
