Nicholas's Story

"I am 22 and grew up in the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. I grew up in a Christian family and have been attending Sunday school and church since I was young. I found out about Christianity Explored through a friend. I began the course to know more as well as to reaffirm my understanding of the Christian faith. Most of what I heard was in line with that understanding. However, there was one misconception I had. I used to think that obeying God was something I was supposed to do as an act of repaying God for what he had done for me, and to gain eternal life into his kingdom. I am not sure why I had this misconception, but I think it was because I just assumed it and did not raise the question.

Christianity Explored showed me that there was no amount of good deeds I could do to achieve eternal life. I simply needed to put my faith in Jesus to have mercy on me. This has impacted me now on how I view the things I do in my everyday life. Obeying God to me now is more of something I want to do rather than have to do. This is because of God's love for me that he sent his only Son to take the punishment for my sins. I feel that that was the ultimate sacrifice and proof of God's love for me. It was also this message that reassured me that I can still enter into his Kingdom. I am glad and thankful that I went along to Christianity Explored. It not only cleared my misconceptions, but also confirmed my previous understanding about Christianity."

Christianity Explored will start on Sunday January 4, 12:30-3pm (with lunch). This is an ideal course for non-Christians who want to find more about Jesus and what it means to follow him. It's also helpful for new Christians who want to build their foundations, and for Christians who would like to learn how to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others using Mark's gospel.
