The Tunku Scholars Association Malaysia (“TSAM”) is an association registered pursuant to the Malaysian Societies Act whose members consists of current and former recipients of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation (“Foundation”) scholarship. TSAM’s members (also known as Tunku Scholars), are empowered individuals who excel academically as well as in co-curricular activities. As Tunku Scholars, these

individuals are nurtured to become leaders, embedded with the teachings, values and good principles of the late Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and its Father of Independence. Through TSAM, members are provided with a platform to network and forge relationships for their personal and professional development. TSAM was also established in order to enable members to contribute back to the society. By organizing community, charitable and development activities for the community, TSAM members seek to make the everyday lives of Malaysian better. TSAM owes its humble beginnings to Tunku Scholars themselves. Spirited and passionate about serving the community, TSAM was first known as the “Tunku Scholars Goodwill Fund”. Its function was to pool resources from Tunku Scholars and to award deserving organisations or individuals a sum of money to assist them with their daily lives or advocacy efforts. As time progressed, there was a realization amongst the Tunku Scholars that they could do more with a formalised organisation. Tunku Scholars came from various backgrounds, fields of studies, and possessed different skills and know-how. As such, there was also a need for an organisation that would enable Tunku Scholars to utilise each other’s expertise for their own development as well as for the benefit of the community. In the long run and as Tunku Scholars began forging their identities within their industries and fields, it was foreseen that an association to keep everyone in touch would be beneficial. From this realization and that of the Tunku Scholars Goodwill Fund, effort began early 2010 to create the TSAM. A committee, known as the Paul-Heritage Commission comprising of Tunku Scholars was appointed to look into the viability of setting up an association for Tunku Scholars as well as to perform ground work, including the drafting of a constitution for the association. Progress was slow owing to the various other commitment Tunku Scholars had. Notwithstanding, at every Tunku Scholars camp, discussions were held to talk about the association as well as update new scholars of its progress. On the 16th of January 2012, TSAM was officially registered with the Malaysian registrar of societies. With its establishment, TSAM expects big and great things to happen in due time. TSAM is committed in upholding and spreading the ideals of Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman and looks forward to developing its members as well as positively contribute to the society.

TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN SCHOLARSHIP (Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

(a) Basic requirements:

(i) Citizen of Malaysia.

(ii) Not more than 25 years of age at the closing date.

(b) Eligibility requirements of Academic and Co-curriculum:

(i) School leavers of STPM / Asasi / Matriculation / Diploma * who achieved a CGPA of 3.50 and above and also open to full-time graduates of Bachelor’s Degree at IPTA or IPTS in the country who obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.50, and have at least 2 years remaining to finish their studies.

(ii) High Credit in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language at SPM level.

(iii) Possesses the characteristics of outstanding leadership and active participation in extra-curricular activities, especially at school or university.

* The awarding of BTAR is subject to the applicant receiving entry into a local IPT in the country.

(c) Additional requirement:

Short-listed applicants will be required to attend a Leadership Traits Observation programme and attend the Selection Interview sessions arranged by YTAR.

STATUS OF BTAR RECIPIENT

To preserve the status of BTAR as a prestigious and exclusive scholarship, any Tunku Scholar who fails to maintain the achievement of the CGPA of 3.50 and above may be given a penalty such as being downgraded to the:

(i) Tunku Abdul Rahman Studentship (DTAR) or
(ii) Tunku Abdul Rahman Education Grant (PPTAR) or
(iii) Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation Special Scholarship (BKYTAR) or
(iv) have the scholarship terminated and be stripped of the title ‘Tunku Scholar’.

APPLICATION

Only candidates who have attended the Leadership Traits Observation programme will be called for the Selection Interview. Candidates who are not contacted after 3 months from the closing date of the application are considered unsuccessful.

BIASISWA TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN (Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman)

SYARAT-SYARAT PERMOHONAN

(a) Syarat Asas:

(i) Warganegara Malaysia.

(ii) Umur tidak melebihi 25 tahun pada tarikh tutup permohonan.

(b) Syarat Kelayakan Akademi dan Ko-kurikulum:

(i) Pelajar lepasan STPM / Asasi / Matrikulasi / Diploma* yang mencapai PNGK 3.50 dan ke atas .

(ii) Permohonan juga dibuka kepada bakal graduan yang sedang dalam pengajian sepenuh masa Ijazah Sarjana Muda di IPT tempatan yang (jika) berjaya mencapai minimum PNGK 3.50 dan tahun pengajiannya masih berbaki sekurang-kurangnya 2 tahun pengajian.

(iii) Kepujian tinggi dalam Bahasa Malaysia dan Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM.

(iv) Memiliki ciri-ciri kepimpinan yang terserlah dan penyertaan yang yang aktif dalam aktiviti ko-kurikulum, terutamanya di peringkat luar sekolah atau universiti.

* pemberian BTAR tertakluk kepada pemohon diterima masuk ke IPT tempatan dalam negara.

(c) Syarat Tambahan:

Pemohon yang disenarai pendek akan dikehendaki mengikuti program Pemerhatian Ciri Kepimpinan dan hadir pada sesi Temuduga Pemilihan yang di aturkan oleh pihak YTAR.

PENARAFAN PENERIMA BTAR

Bagi mengekalkan taraf prestij dan eksklusif biasiswa ini, mana-mana Tunku Scholar yang gagal mengekalkan pencapaian PNGK 3.50 ke atas akan dikenakan penalti seperti turun taraf kepada:

(i) Dermasiswa Tunku Abdul Rahman (DTAR) atau
(ii) Pemberian Pengajian Tunku Abdul Rahman (PPTAR) atau
(iii) Biasiswa Khas Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman (BKYTAR) atau
(iv) ditamatkan pemberian dan gelaran ‘Tunku Scholar’ dilucutkan.

PERMOHONAN

Hanya pemohon yang telah mengikuti Program Pemerhatian Ciri Kepimpinan sahaja akan dipanggil untuk Temuduga Pemilihan. Pemohon yang gagal adalah mereka yang tidak dihubungi selepas 3 bulan daripada tarikh tutup permohonan.
