Dear Members,

PAM is pleased to invite all members to the PAM National Town Hall 2026, to be held in hybrid format on Saturday, 15 August 2026.
The Town Hall provides a platform for members to share the challenges affecting architectural practice and contribute constructive feedback and recommendations.

The programme will include:

Wellbeing Survey of the Architectural Profession
The findings of the recent survey will be presented to provide an evidence-based foundation for discussion and to support PAMโ€™s advocacy for systemic improvements to the architectural profession.

PAM CDM Guide for Architects
Members will also be introduced to the PAM Guide for Architects on the Occupational Safety and Health (Construction Work) (Design and Management) Regulations 2024. This session will provide an opportunity to raise questions and offer feedback ahead of the Guideโ€™s official launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.

GBI CEO Strategic Intelligence Brief
Week commencing 3 August 2026

There is no single headline in the green-building sector this week. The more important story is quieter: a convergence of pressures that will reshape how sustainable buildings are approved, financed, certified and operated.

Four shifts worth watching.

1. Data centres are becoming a question of national resource allocation, not just construction. Electricity, water, infrastructure and community benefit are now real approval risks, especially in Johor and Selangor. Sustainability here is a licence-to-operate issue.

2. EECA is moving the market toward annual, auditable performance. Certification that stays disconnected from statutory energy reporting risks looking duplicative. The direction is clear: performance you verify every year, not a plaque you earn once.

3. Regional policy is tying certification to investment and finance. Singapore already links Green Mark to its data-centre capacity allocation, and ASEAN-BUILT is mobilising capital around sustainable buildings. Certification is becoming a gate to capital.

4. Global standards are moving toward whole-life carbon. BREEAM V7 and LEED v5 now expect carbon to be measured across design, construction and operation, not through isolated credits.

The common thread: green is moving from a design-stage achievement to an operational, financial and regulatory reality, measured continuously.

The bar is no longer what you designed. It is what your building actually does, year after year.

What are you watching this week?
