CU-TFL Thai Language Proficiency Test — Now in Malaysia for the First Time!

🧠 How Does the CU-TFL Work?

The CU-TFL test structure is similar to IELTS:

All candidates take the same test — no need to select a level in advance.

Your result will reflect your current proficiency, from Beginner to Advanced, based on your score.

🧪 The test evaluates all four core skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.

👥 Who Should Take This Test?

The CU-TFL is suitable for:
✅ Language learners who want an official certificate to demonstrate their Thai skills
✅ Professionals using Thai in work or business settings
✅ University applicants or scholarship seekers in Thailand

📚 What Level Should I Be Before Taking the Test?

We recommend that you:
➡️ Have at least CEFR A2 or B1 level proficiency in Thai to attempt the test with confidence
➡️ Understand the Thai alphabet, basic grammar, and everyday conversation topics
➡️ Regularly use or study Thai in real-life, academic, or workplace contexts

Here’s a general guideline on what each level is typically useful for:

A2 (Basic): Casual travel, beginner conversations

B1 (Intermediate): Daily life, simple work communication

44-year-old Khor finds Thai similar to a mix of Teochew, Hokkien, and Cantonese, which intrigued her to learn the language. Working in Bangkok, Thai has helped her communicate better with clients and even made her travel more enjoyable and practical.

2️⃣ Liew Seen Hooi’s Perspective
Digital marketing manager Liew has been studying Thai for nine months. She finds offline classes the most effective and has overcome challenges in pronunciation through repeated practice and interaction with family. Her goal is to speak Thai fluently and fully integrate into Thai culture.
