What if growth isn’t about doing more but about automating the work that slows you down?

That was the focus of MTDC’s Knowledge Sharing Session on MTDC SPHERE with the UPM-MTDC tenant community on 14 October 2026.

Mohd Izwan Yusof from MTDC’s Business Advisory Services Department introduced MTDC SPHERE — a digital platform designed to support business growth through AI-powered tools, CRM, lead management and business process automation.

Through a live demo, participants saw how these tools can help streamline operations, manage leads better and strengthen customer relationships.

For MTDC, this goes beyond tech adoption. It’s about helping technology companies build stronger foundations, connect with the right resources and expertise, and grow from development to commercialisation and sustainable business growth.

MTDC and SME Corp. Malaysia met today to explore potential collaboration on joint programmes and investment opportunities to strengthen Malaysia’s technology ecosystem. The meeting brought together Ts. Hj. Mohammad Hazani Hj. Hassan, Group Chief Executive Officer of MTDC, and Encik Rizal bin Dato’ Nainy, Chief Executive Officer of SME Corp. Malaysia, alongside representatives from both organisations.

The discussion centred on opportunities to combine both organisations’ expertise and networks to support the growth of technology-driven Malaysian enterprises. Potential areas of cooperation included programmes to strengthen business capabilities and facilitate investment, with a view to helping more local companies build their competitiveness and pursue opportunities for growth.

At KL20 2026, MTDC joins Malaysia's wider startup community in advancing the country's position as a destination for technology entrepreneurship and investment.

Our work in semiconductor venture building offers a practical example. Through SemiconStart Malaysia, in collaboration with Silicon Catalyst UK, MTDC supports local semiconductor startups as they navigate the path from technology development towards commercialisation.

Semiconductors are a demanding business. Developing the technology is one challenge; building a commercially viable company around it is another. The support available along that journey can make a real difference.

For Malaysia, growing a stronger deep-tech sector means giving homegrown companies a better shot at making that journey successfully.

Connecting Global Expertise with Malaysia's Technology Potential

What opportunities could emerge when global technology networks connect with Malaysia's growing technology ecosystem?

MTDC recently engaged with Mr Thomas Chang, Business Director of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan, to explore potential collaboration and investment opportunities. Headquartered in Taiwan, ITRI is an applied technology research organisation with an established presence across the United States, Europe and Asia, alongside international partnerships, including Mexico.

As ITRI explores Malaysia's potential as a technology and industry partner within ASEAN, the discussion provided an opportunity to identify areas for future cooperation and strengthen cross-border industry connections.

The engagement reflects MTDC's continued efforts to expand international networks and connect Malaysian technology companies with opportunities in the global technology ecosystem.

Pulau Pinang dipeta sebagai Pusat Kewangan Teknologi Negara. Khazanah dan InvestPenang akan mewujudkan Dana Pelaburan Strategik RM100 juta bagi membantu syarikat semikonduktor dan pembuatan termaju pada peringkat awal pertumbuhan.

Automotive Hi-Tech Valley di Tanjong Malim diangkat sebagai hab automotif serantau, selari dengan Pelan Induk Perindustrian Baharu (NIMP) untuk transformasi industri negara. Melaka Centre of Excellence p**a bakal melahirkan tenaga kerja mahir melalui latihan TVET berteknologi tinggi, bagi memenuhi keperluan industri masa hadapan.

SemiconStart MTDC menyediakan pelaburan ekuiti susulan kepada syarikat pemula teknologi dalam industri semikonduktor, dengan tumpuan kepada reka bentuk litar bersepadu (IC) dan pembungkusan termaju.

Inisiatif ini melengkapkan ekosistem semikonduktor negara dengan menyokong syarikat tempatan yang berpotensi tinggi untuk berkembang dan mendalami segmen bernilai tinggi.

At the 3rd Annual AIM Asia Week 2026 in Pulau Pinang, MTDC was proud to contribute to a vital dialogue on the future of advanced manufacturing. Dr. Wan Raihana Wan Aasim from MTDC’s Developmental Fund Management Department, took the stage for a panel session that delved into the critical intersections of human capital, artificial intelligence, and innovation—pillars that will define Malaysia's industrial transformation.

Following the session, Dr. Wan Raihana also accepted an appreciation award on behalf of MTDC, recognising the organisation’s contribution to the AIM event.

This recognition belongs to the entire MTDC team, whose daily dedication empowers technology-based companies to unlock their long-term value and thrive.

A partnership built over decades continues to create space for new ideas.

At the recent URIIS 2026, MTDC was pleased to welcome UPM Board Chairman Dato’ Sri Jailani Johari to our booth. His visit was a meaningful moment for a relationship that has grown since the establishment of the UPM–MTDC Technology Centre in 1996. Together, we have helped connect research, industry and entrepreneurs, bringing Malaysian technologies closer to market.

The summit also marked a milestone for ZetaTech Sdn Bhd, whose MIZU Paint holds MySTI certification. ZetaTech introduced its ZECOA technology, signed MoUs with NanoViz Group and Euro-Circuit Technology, and received recognition from The Malaysia Book of Records for the First Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) Adsorbent Paint 2026.

Congratulations to ZetaTech, and thank you to UPM for a partnership that continues to create opportunities for Malaysian innovation.
