With Road to Growth (R2G) 2026 Southern, MTDC brings this year’s R2G series to a close after engaging the technology ecosystem across the Central Region and East Malaysia.

Our sincere thanks to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) as our strategic ecosystem partner, all ecosystem players, speakers and participants who made each edition meaningful in its own way.

And to the media, thank you for taking the story beyond the event and helping more people discover what Road to Growth is about.

R2G 2026 may have come to an end, but the connections and opportunities it has opened up do not have to stop here.

If you missed R2G this year, perhaps next year is your turn to be part of it.

Today, the Southern technology ecosystem takes centre stage at Road To Growth (R2G) 2026 Southern

Organised by Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), with the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) as its strategic ecosystem partner, today’s R2G edition brings together technology companies, industry players, investors, researchers, government agencies and ecosystem partners in Johor under one roof.

For a region at the intersection of industry, investment and technology, the conversations today are about strategic opportunities: technology adoption, commercialisation, access to funding, business growth and stronger connections across the ecosystem.

R2G is part of MTDC’s effort to bring technological growth and ecosystem support closer to businesses and innovators across Malaysia, creating more opportunities for regional players to connect with the wider national ecosystem.

We look forward to the ideas exchanged, connections made and discussions that continue beyond today.

For semiconductor startups, access to the right expertise, industry relationships and international networks can be as critical as the technology itself.

Through SemiconStart Malaysia, the inaugural cohort will gain access to Silicon Catalyst’s global semiconductor ecosystem, bringing together experienced industry executives, technical specialists, mentors, investors and strategic partners across key international markets.

As MTDC’s strategic partner in SemiconStart Malaysia, Silicon Catalyst UK is leading the delivery of the year-long incubation programme, connecting its internationally established semiconductor incubation model and global industry network with Malaysia’s growing pipeline of technology-driven companies. This global perspective will support the cohort in strengthening their understanding of international market requirements, refining their commercial strategies and identifying pathways to industry partnerships, investment and market expansion.

Together with MTDC’s technology commercialisation expertise, ecosystem reach and understanding of the Malaysian innovation landscape, the programme provides a platform to bridge local semiconductor innovation with global industry opportunities. SemiconStart Malaysia represents a long-term commitment to developing Malaysian semiconductor companies that are not only technologically capable, but commercially prepared, globally connected and positioned for sustainable growth.

Congratulations to Xcel Itech Sdn. Bhd., our tenant at UPM-MTDC Technology Centre 1, on the successful handover of the KLAV27 Train Driving Simulator to Rapid KL Prasarana Malaysia Berhad — a milestone that marks the delivery of one of Malaysia's most advanced collaborative driverless train driving simulator to date.

Built on immersive digital simulation, realistic operational scenarios, and collaborative multi-train capabilities, the KLAV27 is the product of a significant alliance and symbol of technology transfer in its truest form. Not imported, not replicated — developed here, delivered here, for Malaysia's railway industry. Seeing it come to life from within the walls of UPM-MTDC Technology Centre 1 is precisely the kind of outcome this ecosystem was built for.

Well done, Xcel Itech. The track ahead looks promising.
