Class placement at our early intervention preschool is based on skill and readiness, not age alone.
We assess each child’s communication, regulation, social interaction, independence, fine and gross motor skills, and learning profile before deciding placement. The goal is to place them in an environment where they can participate, feel successful, and be appropriately challenged.
Some younger children may join a more advanced group if their skills align. Some older children may benefit from a more foundational class to strengthen core skills first. Progression happens when developmental goals are met, not when a birthday arrives.
This approach allows us to personalise support, build confidence, and create meaningful growth at the right pace for each child.

Teachers see many little steps in class that parents sometimes miss.
This post is a simple awareness checklist to help you notice the same things at home. Neurodivergent preschoolers grow differently, and that’s okay. Awareness just helps parents feel less confused and more confident.
