The Seventh Installment for Saturday Night Lecture Series on the Philosophy of Science in Perspective (Issues and Response) is commencing on this Saturday, 22nd of August 2026, and the next Saturday, 29th of August for the Eight Installment, at 9.00 PM.

RZS-CASIS welcomes you to the next installments of RZS-CASIS Saturday Night Lecture Series (19th Series), which will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açikgenç, the current Holder of the Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Distinguished Chair of Islamic Thought, with the topics on:

PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE IN PERSPECTIVE: ISSUES AND RESPONSES (I)

In continuation from the previous installments, Prof. Dr. Alparslan had already discussed various aspects of science as reflected in Professor al-Attas’s work, later followed by the topics on Progress as A Process: Emergence of Sciences in A Society, then followed by the discussion on Scientific Traditions: Emergence and Characteristics. This time around, the emphasis will be given on the Issues and Responses within the context of the Philosophy of Science in Perspective.

Terdapat lebih daripada 60 perkataan berkaitan sungai disebutkan dalam Qur’an. Ada sungai disebutkan secara hakiki, ada sungai yang disebutkan secara majazi. Ada juga sungai yang disebutkan berlapis, seperti “syurga yang mengalir di bawahnya beberapa sungai”.

Merujuk kepada kenyataan di atas, suatu wacana yang bertajuk Mengalir dari Syurga: Tafsir Maudu‘i Sungai akan diadakan. Wacana ini bertujuan memahami intipati ajaran Islam mengenai sungai dan pelestariannya dalam Qur’an yang boleh membantu masyarakat Islam khususnya dan umum menjaga sungai dan mengindahkannya.

Semua diundang hadir ke wacana yang membincangkan perihal sungai seperti yang disebutkan, sebagaimana ketetapan berikut:

Wacana ini akan disampaikan oleh dua tokoh dalam bidang agama dan kejuruteraan air, iaitu Prof. Dato’ Dr. Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff dan Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Seri Dr. Zaini Ujang.

Pendekatan yang dibawa oleh dua tokoh ini ialah melalui tafsiran bertema ayat berkaitan sungai dalam Qur’an. Melalui wacana ini, peserta akan dibawa menelusuri makna dan tafsir ayat berkaitan sungai dalam Qur’an dan cara menghargai dan mengamalkan kelestarian sungai di sekitar kita.

Some snippets taken from the previous session of Saturday Night Lecture Series delivered by Dato' Dr. Syed Ali Tawfik al-Attas, discussing a reflective topic Are We Living the Worldview of Islam? during the past two weeks, on 1st of August 2026 at Azman Hashim Hall, UTM Kuala Lumpur.

The Saturday Night Lecture series will again continue on the upcoming 22nd and 29th of August 2026 with our current Holder of the Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Distinguished Chair of Islamic Thought, Professor Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç, looking into the Philosophy of Science in Perspective: Issues and Responses (I) at the same place.
