Kokuto de Lequio, the world’s first Ryukyu Awamori–based muscovado liqueur, alongside the soulful Okinawa Islands Rum and the elegant Akiu HeartRock Saké from Miyagi Prefecture — a gathering of Japan’s cherished Kokushu in one room, was unveiled over an unforgettable evening at Sushi Hibiki, Kuala Lumpur's shrine of sushi and precision washoku craftsmanship.
In the warm spirit of Okinawa, it felt like a true “ユンタクしながら” kind of night, where glasses and stories flowed just as easily. And from the north, an echo of Miyagi hospitality — “んだっちゃ!” became the mood as each sip drew smiles and new friendships.
Malaysia’s leading bartenders brought these spirits to life through intricate, culture-rich libations that told stories in every glass— riffs of terroir, tradition, and time.
Also guiding the journey was Thomas Ling, Awamori Jinbner & Cuisine Goodwill Ambassador (MAFF, Japan), whose warm storytelling layered the night with the heart and history of Japan’s deep-rooted drinking culture.

The "Los Altos del Tequila" route has officially launched, being unveiled at the 27th edition of the CMB Spirits Selection 2025 - the world's largest and most significant traveling international spirits competition, featuring 2,598 entries from 70 countries reviewed by 140 international judges representing 45 nationalities this year!
This new route signals Jalisco’s bold vision to elevate tequila’s story worldwide, spanning 8 historic towns-municipalities, with over 75 immersive experiences across agave fields, artisanal distilleries, culinary pairings, cultural rituals & farm-to-table tastings - this is tequila tourism redefined.
