Day 1 of the 3rd Malikussaleh International Medical Cultural Camp 2026 began with a warm welcome from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Malikussaleh, led by its Dean, Dr Muhammad Sayuti, Sp.B., Subsp.BD(K).
The morning continued with academic-sharing sessions featuring Associate Professor Lieutenant Colonel Dr Ruziah Ibrahim (RTD) and Dr Darween Rozehan Shah Iskandar Shah as guest lecturers. Their sessions explored future-ready medical education, technology, planetary health and the important reminder that our health needs a healthy planet.
Learning then moved beyond the lecture hall as our six medical students participated in an international community-service programme. It was an opportunity to experience medicine not only as knowledge and clinical practice, but also as compassion, service and responsibility towards the community.
The day concluded with a colourful cultural celebration featuring traditional Acehnese performances, attire, food and a cultural exchange between students from Malaysia and Indonesia. Through shared food, laughter and conversation, strangers quickly became friends.
Day 1 reminded us that international education is not simply about travelling to another country. It is about learning from one another, appreciating our differences and discovering the values that unite us.
One day. Many lessons. New friendshipsโand a meaningful beginning to MMCC 2026. ๐ฒ๐พ๐ค๐ฎ๐ฉ
