With the rise of child abuse cases, do we teach our children and students that strangers are potential criminals unless proven otherwise or strangers are kind unless proven as criminal? How do we balance being realistic or paranoid.

Is children exploitation a demand problem or a supply problem? All creators, distributors and users of dark web and violent games should be jailed and purged. Given easy access to online temptations, adults with values do not choose to fall into evil despite the deluge of supply.

Challenges produce determination; determination produces character; and character produces hope.

-Being insensitive of abuse (unable to empathise/character disorder) is big danger sign of being able to harm another (think of abuse/commit abuse)

Possible contributing factors (depends on different cases)
- Stable marriage in his parents is absent, either death or separation. Believe that he is abandon as a child with no one in the world to love him as the stable, unconditional primary caregiver
- No good friends to spend time with, isolated and misguided by anti-social behaviour and violent ideas and people online
- Believe he is defeated by life and life circumstances are unfair and unfavourable. Getting angry and revenge at God for being unfair to him and wants to be a winner in life despite his fate. Believe that death is a better option than life.
- Gaps and neglect in school processes in identifying at risk cases.
- (Suicide/Ending own life) Do not want to burden family and friends who love him. Believe death is better than life.

Appreciation of history ⏳🌏

It is important for children to develop understanding of their own roots and where they have come from. This understanding helps to develop their individual identity and cultural identity, a sense of who they are as a person as well as in a group. This gives children a sense of purpose and why they exist, which is the ability known as existential intelligence or spiritual intelligence.

In understanding a group's history and purpose - whether it is a school, sports club, uniform group or other types of community groups - parents and children can make collective choices together on what groups they are interested to join and intend to commit to, and then work towards having continual, sustainable personal growth, becoming better version of oneself incrementally within the group, as well as contributing to the growth and success of the group.

Thanks to prolific writer James Chai for penning stories of courageous unsung Malaysians in the book Sang Kancil (https://www.penguin.sg/book/sang-kancil/). These stories include success in cancer research, battle for better environment, grassroot volunteers during natural disaster, activism through art, crime detection as well as activism for better government.
