RM68.99 billion has been allocated to the Ministry of Education in Belanjawan 2027, the largest allocation across ministries.

But the size of the budget only tells part of the story.

In our latest Ed Pulse, we take a closer look at Belanjawan 2027, from teacher development and school meals to early childhood education, and unpack what these allocations could mean for Malaysia’s education system.

Because ultimately, what matters is how effectively every ringgit is spent and whether it leads to better outcomes for our children.

We’re looking for young in-service teachers who are ready to develop their leadership and grow in their journey as educators.

As a Guru Muda, many challenges can get in the way of growth: piles of administrative work, adapting to school culture, managing classrooms, navigating students’ misuse of AI, and the list goes on.

But with the right tools, guidance and support, these challenges can become opportunities for a young teacher to grow, lead and make a greater impact. For themselves and for .

Know a Guru Muda who’s ready to take the next step? Tag them in the comments below!

Teach For Malaysia, with the support of Sarawak Energy Berhad well as Project ID celebrated the achievements of student leaders from Sarawak and Perak at the Student Leadership Camp (SLC) Showcase Day on the 22nd of August 2026.

The showcase marked the culmination of the students’ leadership journey in addressing issues close to them, and sparking change within their schools and communities. Sarawak Energy supported the camp by creating a platform for these student leaders to share their work, receive feedback, and celebrate their accomplishments. Across the programme, 130 participating students formed 22 teams led by TFM Fellows. The teams worked on projects addressing issues such as littering, cafeteria overcrowding, practicing moral decision-making, and workshops in supporting Orang Asli parents struggling to complete official forms independently. Selected initiatives were awarded sustainability funding to continue their impact.

Together, we are working together to foster leaders and encourage these students to continue to create positive change in their schools and communities.

Shawn Stanly, a 2022 Fellowship Alumni and an award-winning educator, shared his Fellowship experience at TEDx POWIIS Youth and his endeavours in making education meaningful for his students.

Whether it's their socioeconomic status or their postcode, a child’s access to education is shaped by many factors beyond their control. For children in Orang Asli communities, limited access to resources is further compounded by deep-rooted stigmas. This became a call for Shawn to rethink what learning could look like. Through creative teaching, he brought new learning experiences to underserved rural communities, introducing them to worlds outside of their own. Meaningful learning isn’t always measured by assessment scores, but in giving the next generation a sense of possibility.
