Lee Ting 李廷 who has not had any music lessons started piano lessons with me two years ago at the age of 10. At that time, he did not even have a piano at home. Within this short period, he managed to pass his Grade 8 piano examination with a tremendously high distinction, scoring 98 marks.

In Malaysia, I have often come across talented young pianists being known as a "child prodigy". It is as if being a prodigy means success. Throughout my years of teaching, I have never agreed with this. Being a prodigy does not guarantee success. I strongly believe that it is more important for students to have a good discipline and learning attitude. Students who are willing to work hard and practise with the right discipline will achieve good results and perform well. They will eventually develop their style and interest as they grow and mature.
Lee Ting's brilliant achievement has proven my belief.
