Hi! My name is Mas, born in Malaysia.🇲🇾 When I lived in Egypt, I realise obviously that one needs to know the local language but more importantly, what are the most essential words that a foreigner needs to know to settle in a new country. Such as how to address people, asking the price when you want to purchase something, asking for discounts, directions etc. 😣



Understanding the history and culture are also important besides knowing the language to avoid making boo boos or to avoid misunderstandings when the locals are trying to be nice!



For example, what kind of gifts would you get if you're invited for a meal at home or for a wedding? What do you wear for the occasion? How do you host the locals at your home? What superstitions do Malaysians have? And the list goes on.



I then learnt French in England and after some experiences with different language classes, I took the best examples of teaching styles that I think are effective to learn languages.



So I decided to conduct Malay classes, to share my knowledge and help the community of expats, so that they feel they've made the most out of their experience living in Malaysia.

You’ll be surprised at how easy the Malay language is. The words don’t conjugate to form past or present tense and there are no genders. Off springs of animals just follow the name of the animal. You don’t have to memorise the different names of the off springs, just say ‘child of’!
