The origins of MBSKL ( Both primary and secondary school ) school anthem - GO FORWARD MBS ! was copied from Northwestern College USA American football anthem, when our MBSKL American principal ( can't remember his name or years served ) who was a graduate from his USA alma mater Northwestern College, decided to make his College anthem into MBSKL- Go Forward MBS ! after making some changes to the lyrics of our school anthem.

Whatever the origins, GO FORWARD MBS ! is our best loved song ...

Dear President and Exco of MBSKLAA

I just received notice of the AGM by mail. Since I live in Hong Kong I am not able to attend the AGM in person. However, I wish to share the following thoughts with you and my fellow MBSians.

1. I am surprised that no progress has been made to identify a suitable clubhouse during the three years since we sold the old clubhouse.

2. Morever, I hear that we are contemplating an investment in a property to be used as a hostel in Kampar for TAR College students. This is a really bad idea and totally against the original intent of selling our clubhouse.

3. To make matters worse, you are now seeking carte blanche to decide what property to buy based on Resolutions 1, 2 and 3. I intend to vote against all of them and encourage my fellow MBSians to do the same.

4. The original idea of buying a shoplot and using part of the property as a clubhouse and renting out the rest is sound and that was what I supported. The proposed investment in Kampar serves no purpose other than to generate some income for us. We are not a for profit organization and therefore do not need to maximize our returns by taking excessive risk. Our priority should be to serve our members and alumni of the school.

5. Given the downturn in the property market in KL, I am sure if we were to use just a portion of the monthly interest from the fixed deposit (of RM1.2 million), say RM2000 per month, we should be able to rent one floor of a multi storey building. I wonder if the committee has explored this option. This way we can keep growing our deposit (to hedge against inflation) while providing a clubhouse/meeting place for alums.
