Humility and Modesty: The Basics of Ethics
On Saturday, 23rd November 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulhamid Mohamed Ali Zaroum delivered an engaging lecture on humility and modesty under the theme Akhlaq & Tazkiyah. The session highlighted humility as a key Islamic value essential for personal development and communal harmony.
Participants, divided into four groups for brothers and four for sisters, shared personal reflections on the causes, experiences, and reactions of humility. These discussions underscored the profound impact of humility in fostering compassion and mutual respect.
The session concluded with a heartfelt reflection from Sister Aysha, a new Muslim from India, who movingly spoke about the blessings of Islam and the importance of gratitude in everyday life.
Although the discussion on modesty was postponed to the next session due to time constraints, the lecture left participants deeply inspired to reflect on their behavior and to embody these virtues in their daily lives.

On 4 October 2024 | Friday, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) hosted a training session titled "Our Identity: Khalifah Ul-Ard ," facilitated by Ms. Noor Ul Ain and Ms. Hafiza Hira, designed exclusively for sisters.
Facilitator Profiles:
- Ms. Noor Ul Ain: A licensed facilitator for neurodiverse children, she holds an M.Ed. from Trinity College Dublin and specializes in inclusive curriculum planning. With extensive experience in classical Islamic learning, she currently serves as the Director of Islamic Education at Message Grammar School in Lahore.
- Ms. Hafiza Hira: Holding an MPhil in Educational Leadership and Management from LUMS, she has six years of experience in classical Islamic studies. As an NLP Master Practitioner and psychotherapy trainee, she focuses on empowering women to embrace their identities as devoted servants of Allah.
During this program, we discussed the position of women as Khalifah al-Ard and the roles and responsibilities of women in preserving the Maqasid Shariah in Islamic societies. These discussions highlighted the essential role of women in realizing Islamic principles and fostering a balanced and healthy community.
We are grateful to both facilitators for their dedication to empowering our sisters through this important program.

On 21-22 September 2024 , the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT)conducted a training session titled "Personal Strategic Planning," facilitated by Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sabban , the former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Dawah, and Guidance for Planning and Development.
The training spanned two days, with the first day dedicated to theoretical insights, while the second day focused on practical applications. Participants engaged in interactive discussions and hands-on activities designed to enhance their strategic planning skills.
Dr. Al-Sabban extensive experience in planning and development provided valuable perspectives on effective personal strategic planning, empowering participants to set meaningful goals and create actionable plans for their personal and professional growth.
We extend our gratitude to Dr. Al-Sabban for his insightful guidance and to all participants for their enthusiastic engagement in this enriching program!

On 20 July 2024 | Saturday, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) conducted a training titled Comprehensive Training Program on Writing Impactful Research Grants for the Ummah , facilitated by Assistant Professor Dr. Saheed Abdullahi Busari.
We had an engaging and insightful session focused on writing research grants that benefit the Ummah. Students participated actively, working in teams to choose research titles and presenting their ideas in just 10 minutes! Their enthusiastic contributions and collaborative efforts made the session even more enriching.

On June 8, 2024, IIIT hosted a lecture exploring the life lessons from the story of Adam in Suratul Baqarah. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radwan Jamal Yousef Elatrash engaged the audience with profound insights into the Quranic narrative, highlighting its relevance to contemporary life. He delved into the significance of Adam's creation, discussing why he is considered the best creation of Allah and elucidating his responsibilities as a human on Earth.
The lecture underscored ethical decision-making, resilience, and spiritual growth as key themes. Students actively participated, offering diverse interpretations and reflections on the concept of the best creation. The event proved pivotal in deepening understanding of Islamic teachings and their practical implications in today's world.

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, we were honored to host Prof. Dr. Waleed Fekry Faris, who delivered an inspiring talk on the critical role of Muslim academics and intellectuals in fostering positive societal change. Dr. Faris emphasized the need for ethical leadership and innovative thinking to address contemporary challenges. His insights resonated deeply, encouraging attendees to reflect on their contributions to the community. Students participated actively, adding valuable perspectives to the discussion.

On May 11, 2024, IIIT hosted an lecture on the "Publication of Scientific Paper" delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siraje Abdallah, Deputy Director of the International Institute for Muslim Unity (IIMU).
Dr. Siraje provided valuable insights and practical tips on navigating the complex world of scientific publishing, emphasizing the importance of clarity, precision, and adherence to ethical standards in research communication.
Attendees gained a deeper understanding of the publication process, including selecting the right journal, crafting effective manuscripts, and addressing reviewer feedback. Dr. Abdallah's expertise and engaging delivery made the session both informative and inspiring.
