Ms Looi Zhuo Ying

Ms Looi Zhuo Ying completed her Bachelor of Contemporary Music (Hons) at UCSI University under scholarship. During her time in UCSI, she took classical piano as her minor instrument. Her teachers included Ms. Chee Su Yen and Ms. Ysan Suit Yin. She obtained her ATCL from Trinity College London under guidance of Mr. Lee Yin Hwa. Her other music qualification included Grade 8 from ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music).

Zhuo Ying is passionate in teaching. She attends workshops and conferences constantly to enrich herself to teach better. Workshops and conferences she attended included Aureus Artist Webinar Series 2021- How to help student to develop the correct key attack by Veronica Yen, ABRSM Piano Conference - Hallmarks of Distinction 2018, and UCSI University Piano Pedagogy Conference 2017. Her students achieve good results in international music competitions as well as 100% exam passing rate.

Zhuo Ying was a volunteer teacher at Chin Student Organisation in 2014. Besides pursuing her passion as a music teacher, Zhuo Ying was involved in a variety of music performances and events. To mention a few: China-ASEAN Youth Piano Competition 2018, Once Upon A Toon Concert 2014, Asia Music Competition 2014 as sound and lighting crew, and KL International Jazz Festival 2013.

She performed at Virtual Teacher’s Day Concert 2020, Charity Christmas Concert 2018 and featured as soloist and accompanist in T**i Chinese New Year Gala 2015. She also performed in choir, modern band ensemble, classical music ensemble and as violinist in mini orchestra.

Zhuo Ying was appointed as Performance Director in U-SchoS’ Leadership Lecture Series 2014 & 2015. She also contributed as a treasurer of Scholar Enrichment Programme.

Currently, Zhuo Ying teaches at established music centre and private studio.

Congratulations to my student who achieved *DISTINCTION* for both ABRSM Grade 5 performance grade (138/150) and theory (73/75)!

First met this girl during MCO in March 2020. Well, our first met was online! She was a transfer student, doing grade 2 practical and grade 1 theory, never sit for any exam.

It's always pleasant to work with such commited student. Seeing the potential in her, we managed to get to Grade 5 in about 1.5 years! Striving for Grade 8 now; challenging but we can do it!
