Apple Distinguished School 2024โ2027 | Full & Weekday Boarding Available At UCSI International School (UIS) Kuala Lumpur, the combination of the Cambridge International Curriculum and the International Primary Curriculum during primary school lays the foundations for secondary school and the rigorous IGC
SE exams. As part of this evolutionary leap in educational needs, UIS Kuala Lumpur has also been inducted as the first Finnish Experience Flagship School in Malaysia since August 2021. Through this holistic partnership, the school will be introducing four new tech-based modules: Code School Finland, Eduten Playground, Grapho, & School Day to provide a truly 21st Century learning experience for all students. The inclusion of these modules is designed to inculcate skills such as coding, gamification, robotics, IT, communication, creativity, critical thinking, emotional intelligence in students, preparing them for the ever-changing 21st Century world. Beyond that, UIS Kuala Lumpur has established The EdTech Centre, a one-stop technology and learning hub to enable students, teachers, parents and the community to interact with one another on the growing importance of the 21st Century Skills. These skills, among others, consist of creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking by leveraging emerging digital technologies to increase the reach and impact of education. This platform is set to redefine the outcomes of youth and to heighten the quality of education for students across the board. UIS Kuala Lumpur focuses on Eight Critical Characteristics in our learning content and experiences: Character Education, Global Citizenship Skills, Innovation & Creative Skills, Technology Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Personalised & Self-Paced Learning, Problem-based Collaborative Learning, and Lifelong Learning. Supported by Apple Education, our students use tools and resources such as the Everyone Can Create & Everyone Can Code programmes to learn IT, design, robotics, and computer sciene. The rapid advancement of technological innovation, global competition, and a push towards a knowledge-based economy require that our students have a repertoire of soft and hard skills. We therefore place a strong emphasis on technology, character education, and co-curricular activities, forming a truly holistic education for the 21st century.

We had a lot of fun exploring different costumes and props whilst rehearsing for our upcoming whole school production. Costume play is far more than what a character wears; it is a powerful tool for symbolic thinking, embodiment and characterisation.
Long before a character speaks their first line, their apparel begins telling the audience who they are, helping performers step into role and bringing the story to life.

Here is a glimpse into our regular Drama Lab group discussions, where students learn how to formulate opinions and find the freedom to share their thoughts. Script analysis is central to the process of making theatre. Our IGCSE Drama read-throughs provide an opportunity to unpack character objectives, subtext, and given circumstances. Our school productions are a way of diving deeper into text and performance, while building meaningful connections between the Performing Arts and the English Department.

CCA project led by Ms Vimal. ๐ญ๐ฑ
Students designed digital puppets using Canva, created physical puppets by hand, and recorded their own puppet shows using iPads โ combining technology, creativity, and storytelling in meaningful ways.
Through this project, students developed:
๐ Confidence
๐ Teamwork & communication skills
๐ Creativity & self-expression
๐ Digital storytelling skills
Most importantly, they became creators, innovators, and storytellers in their own learning journey.
โThrough EdTech, even young learners can imagine, create, and inspire.โ ๐ก

We are incredibly proud of our boarding student, Yong Ya Qing, for representing the boarding community through an enriching educational and cultural experience in Beijing โจ๐
During the trip, she had the opportunity to gain valuable international exposure and deepen her passion for dance by visiting prestigious institutions such as the Beijing Dance Academy, Tsinghua University, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
This meaningful experience not only strengthened her artistic journey, but also allowed her to learn from new environments, cultures, and perspectives. We look forward to seeing her continue to shine and represent our boarding community in future dance competitions and performances ๐

Iโm very excited to announce that tickets are now available for our public show on Saturday 27th June! Dream a Little Dream promises to be another spectacular whole school production celebrating acting, choreography, singing, music and set design. We look forward to welcoming friends, families and our wider local community to experience this magical adaptation of The Little Prince, embedded within our Performing Arts and IGCSE Drama curriculum this year.
Our Performing Arts exploratorium โDramaLabโ presented a half-day workshop with KL Shakespeare Players exploring Meyerholdโs Biomechanics. This built on the work the students had been doing on embodiment and characterisation over the last term.
In the words of a participant, โthe biggest takeaway was how breaking the lines down brought out implicit meanings and added depth into the scenes. This will help the audience believe what is happening on stageโ. What a pleasure it was to host this dynamic Malaysian theatre group and we look forward to developing this exchange.
