Semalam whilst waiting for my other half buat facial I walked around KLCC and bumped into this gentleman YBM Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah or fondly known as Ku Li. First time jumpa in person. Can feel his positive aura from far. I smiled at him first & nodded with respect. I didnโ€™t expect he would approach me and said hello ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜ƒ. At 86 years & a half (he told me this when asked his age) still segak dan tegap berjalan.

Ku Li said he came to KLCC nak beli jam yang boleh bantu kesihatan. He showed me his new watch he bought to measure his heart beat & I showed mine ๐Ÿ˜…. We spoke about his health, Alhamdulillah sihat. Bila compare Ku Li & myself at my age ni Iโ€™m diabetic & have some heart condition. I like to blame my previous lifestyle instead of because of keturunan ( I kan oghe Kelate kuat makan manis - sweet tooth ๐Ÿ˜œ) Anyways Ku Li & I spent sometime chatting & got to know that he knew my maternal late grandparents & even attended my parents wedding.

I like to chat with experienced elderly people & learn from their wisdom. Within that short meeting with Ku Li, I learned that we need to keep active at all time regardless of age. When the brain is active & body selalu bergerak, InsyaAllah kesihatan baik. I totally agree with Ku Li.

I spend more time having conversations with my clients about their life, upbringing, experiences, likes, dislikes etc. Itโ€™s important to have this awareness & trust before we speak about financials. I have a number of clients who have been with me for more then 5 years, whenever we meet our conversation is always interesting with many topics about life. Ada client yang mula dari anak secondary school, mula kerja & got married. Ada in my previous posting, my wife & I (even my daughter) involved jadi AJK for anak client punya wedding. ๐Ÿคฃ siap dapat kain buat baju melayu.

Having deep conversations is crucial before going into financial planning discussions. It creates awareness for both parties to understand better about the relationship. I have clients who are already in their retirement & ada juga yang getting into their retirement, our conversations are always passionate talking about their worries, possibilities, plans and macam2 lagi. They feel that Iโ€™m there for them beyond a financial planner but a good friend for life.

Apa itu Financial Mistakes (FM) ? -

Contoh:

1) tak sedar bayar Insurans/takaful yg tinggi tapi coverage yg rendah. Bayaran bulanan yg tinggi menyebabkan opportunity loss utk buat simpanan utk other Life Priorities (LP)

2) tak pernah review loan rumah yg interest tinggi - jadi bayaran bulanan tinggi. Another cause of opportunity loss to save for other LP

3) simpan o/s credit card balance & bayar min bulanan. This make you pay 19% interest p.a!! ๐Ÿ˜–

4) ambik personal loan settle kan loan rumah ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ & pay higher interest

Ramai yg buat FM ni tanpa sedar. They donโ€™t know what they donโ€™t know. So, mcmana nak diagnose FM?? You hv to talk to some professional who can give you unbiased advice & holistic point of view.

Kisah anak2 - dari mcm2 perangai, pelajaran, kahwin dll. Cakap pasal aset - nak beli rumah. Kesihatan pun ya juga. Pasal haji dan bila lah nak bersara?

My colleague tanya what do I reflect upon my 49th birthday? This was my answer; I want to be healthy - body & mind.

I have started on intermittent fasting since lepas puasa hari tu - 16 hours from 8pm to 12noon daily. Alhamdulillah dah achieved my ideal weight of 75kg consistently. So now maintain IF on weekdays. Other then IF, I also do 20 pushups daily. This one so far have been consistent since beginning of the year. Cakap pasal being consistent ni, itu lah challenge nyer. I'm still working on myself to be better daily. Last 2 months I started morning walks 3 times a week tapi ke laut after recent holidays. Need to work on this again.

What's your challenge on being consistent?
