We just wrapped up a meaningful two-day Copilot AI training with the engineers at Altera in Bayan Lepas, Penang. It was a solid session, and I had the privilege of working alongside two excellent co-trainers, Dr. Frank and Kelvin Simon .

Over the two days, we focused on how to use Copilot directly within Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Many participants were genuinely surprised by how seamlessly Copilot fits into their daily workflow and how much time it can save once you know how to use it properly.

Most of them mentioned that they had no idea these features were already available within the apps they use every day.

This seems to be the case in many organisations. They already have subscribed to Microsoft 365, but most staff are not aware of the tools available to help them work faster, think better, and improve productivity in a very practical way.

It was encouraging to see the mindset shift over just two days, and I look forward to seeing how the team applies these tools in their work.

Day 2 of our AI training with Maybank

This was our 53rd training on AI this year.

Today’s focus was all about unlocking productivity with Microsoft Copilot. We had the joy of working with a vibrant group of 25 Maybank staff, diving deep into how AI can simplify workflows, spark ideas, and speed up everyday tasks.

A big shout-out to our AI co-trainers, Jayah and William Savarimuthu, who led several sessions and brought great energy into the room.

The participants kept the questions flowing and were genuinely amazed by what Copilot—and AI in general—can do. We also explored other powerful tools like Gamma, NotebookLM, and even had some fun experimenting with Gemini Nano Banana.

It was a lively, curious, and inspiring day. Looking forward to more sessions like this! 🚀✨

𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 — 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲!

One trend I’ve been noticing is that companies are now leaning towards 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬, rather than large cross-functional sessions. This focused approach helps teams go deeper into use cases relevant to their daily work.

A great example of this was our 6th training session with 𝐎𝐒𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 19–20 𝐌𝐚𝐲 2025, where we had the 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 in attendance. We had 17 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬, and what made this round special was the number of 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬—professionals who had joined previous sessions and came back to explore the 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. This was one of the most fun group we had , the energy was great.

We had a fantastic time learning, exploring new tools, and engaging in hands-on activities. I also introduced 𝐋𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥, one of the fastest LLMs currently available, which impressed many with its powerful visualization capabilities. Le Chat also has impressive text to image capabilities , it uses Flux one of the best image tools out there.

As always, we wrapped up with team presentations—and one project that stood out was a complete 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 developed using only AI tools. That’s the kind of impact we’re aiming for!

The UK’s Department for Education recently encouraged schools to explore AI to reduce teachers’ workload—especially for routine tasks like marking and drafting letters to parents. This shift is a powerful reminder that AI is not here to replace educators, but to support and empower them.

𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬:
✅Reducing hours spent on repetitive admin tasks
✅Giving teachers more time to focus on lesson planning, mentoring, and student engagement
✅Enhancing classroom creativity and personalisation, while still maintaining professional oversight

As highlighted in the UK guidance, teachers still play a key role in reviewing and validating AI-generated content. The goal is to free them from overload—not remove their expertise.

Malaysia, like many countries, is grappling with teacher burnout and high workloads. Could this be our opportunity to explore how AI can be a positive force in our education system?
What if we trained teachers to use AI tools smartly and ethically?
What if students were taught how to use AI as a learning partner, not just a shortcut?
There is so much untapped potential.
