Congratulations to our violin students Kwan Jun Hao, Kee Shannuin, Matthias Tan and Chia Wee Loon, who each received Second Prize at the International Young Musicians Music Competition Asia Final 2026.

In their respective categories, Second Prize was the highest award presented.

We are very happy with how they performed, but also with what we have been hearing in their playing — more confidence, greater control, and a growing sense of how they want the music to sound.

Well done, Jun Hao, Shannuin, Matthias and Wee Loon.

Congratulations to our piano students Tang Zi Yan, Koh Jin An, Tang Chi Lam and Tan Erng Kee, who each received First Prize at the International Young Musicians Music Competition Asia Final 2026.

Zi Yan scored 96, the highest mark in her age category, and was awarded Champion.

Chi Lam recorded the highest mark in her age category and across her session.

The finals brought together young musicians from 10 countries and regions, and we are very happy to see all four come away with such strong results.

More than the prizes, we are happy to see how their playing continues to grow — with more confidence, more thought, and a stronger sense of what they want to say through the music.

Well done, Zi Yan, Jin An, Chi Lam and Erng Kee.

She watched closely as the teacher gently guided her hand and helped her find the movement of the bow.
Then, little by little, the teacher stepped back.

She did not do it for her. She gave just enough support to help her begin, then left space for the child to try.
When the bow finally moved and the sound came through, she smiled.

Not because someone had told her she was right, but because she had felt it for herself:

I did that.

That moment matters.

Children need guidance when a movement is new. But when an adult holds on for too long, the result may look correct without ever truly belonging to the child.

Good teaching is not only about knowing how to help. It is also about knowing when the child is ready to take over.

At Claviera School, we care about strong foundations, but we also want children to learn how to listen, notice and adjust for themselves.

Confidence does not come from having every difficulty removed.

It grows from knowing:

Someone supported me when I needed help.

Someone trusted me when I was ready to try.

The teacher’s hand may begin by guiding the movement.
Its deeper purpose is to help the child create the next sound on her own.

Our Clavierans were honored to appear as Guest Performers at Kiddypedia Discovery Fest 2026, sharing the joy of music with families and festival-goers throughout the event.

From piano, vocal, and violin solos to collaborative duets, our students showcased a vibrant range of performances that reflected not only their musical growth, but also the confidence, creativity, and artistry nurtured along their journey.

We were especially proud to be entrusted with producing and presenting the festival’s official theme song, 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞, during the Opening Ceremony — a meaningful opportunity for our students to contribute to a celebration that brings together families, communities, and young talents.

At Claviera, we believe music is more than a performance. It is a pathway to emotional growth, artistic expression, and meaningful human connection. Opportunities like these allow young musicians to discover their voice, share their stories, and experience the transformative power of music beyond the classroom.

Because when children are given a stage, they do more than perform — they grow, connect, and inspire.
