293 New Students Attend IIUM Bai’ah Ceremony, Marking the Beginning of Their Academic Journey
GOMBAK, February 28 – A total of 293 new students from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) for the second-semester intake of the 2024/2025 session attended the Bai’ah Ceremony, or new students’ pledge ceremony, held recently at the Main Auditorium, Gombak Campus.
The Bai’ah Ceremony served as the highlight and closing event of Minggu Ta’aruf, the university’s orientation week for new students. It also symbolized their official acceptance as IIUM students throughout their academic journey.
Out of the total number of new students, 137 are female, while 156 are male. They will pursue their Bachelor’s degrees in various academic fields across IIUM’s campuses in Gombak, Pagoh, and Kuantan.
Throughout Minggu Ta’aruf, various activities were conducted, including introductory sessions at the Kulliyyah (faculty) level, briefings on the functions of different university departments, as well as promotional activities for uniformed bodies such as Palapes Darat (Army Reserve Training Unit), Palapes Udara (Air Force Reserve Training Unit), Kor Suksis (Police Undergraduate Voluntary Corps), and other university clubs.
The Bai’ah Ceremony was also graced by the presence of IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, along with Deputy Rectors, Kulliyyah Deans, and senior university officials.
In his speech, the Rector warmly welcomed all new students to IIUM.
"Regardless of where students come from, we at IIUM are delighted to welcome everyone to this Garden of Knowledge and Virtue. At the same time, we hope that all students will strive to study diligently to achieve their dreams, with the support and guidance of our academic and administrative staff."
He also emphasized the concept of Tauhidic Epistemology as a vision that aligns with the pursuit of knowledge throughout students’ academic journey at IIUM.
The Bai’ah Ceremony concluded with the recitation of the students’ pledge, signifying their commitment to upholding integrity and dedication in their studies at IIUM.
