Dear Sir/Madam,
The Tun Ismail Ali Chair (TIAC), in collaboration with BNM, is opening applications for participation in our two-day inter-university TIAC Monetary Policy Challenge (MPC), which will be held in person on 19 and 20 July 2022 at Bank Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
The TIAC MPC Challenge is a two-day residential team challenge aiming to provide university students with a theoretical understanding and practical experience to BNM’s monetary policy framework and process. Participants will be required to analyse economic data and use the data to form policy conclusions in addressing macroeconomic issues.
The Challenge is open to all Malaysian undergraduates from local universities, who have completed at least two years of studies by mid-2022. For this year’s challenge, we accept only team applications as university representatives, with each team comprising of three undergraduate participants guided by a member of the academic staff as an advisor. Each university may nominate any number of teams for application to the Challenge, and the shortlisted teams will be notified two weeks prior to the challenge.
The challenge will award prizes to the top 3 finalists as follows:
Champion: RM 5,000 cash prize, an internship placement for all three participants in BNM and a research collaboration between the team advisor with BNM
1st Runner-up: RM 3,000 cash prize
2nd Runner-up: RM 1,000 cash prize
The application requires the completed application form, latest CV of each participant and a short essay application question. CVs submitted for the application should be around one page long and include details such as educational background and co-curricular involvements.
