Kong Zi Institute Universiti Malaya in collaboration with the United Nations Association of Malaysia (UNAM), successfully organized the 2026 International Chinese Language Day Short Video Competition, attracting over 100 teachers and students from various institutions. With the theme “Stories Come Alive Through Chinese,” participants showcased their creativity and passion for learning Chinese in a multicultural context. The event was also generously sponsored by Huawei.
At the award ceremony on April 20, organizers highlighted the importance of Chinese as a United Nations official language in promoting global understanding and cultural exchange. Award-winning videos were screened, and a special sharing session allowed winners to share their experiences, demonstrating how Chinese serves as a bridge connecting people and cultures.
The event also featured cultural activities, offering participants an immersive experience of Chinese culture. Overall, the competition provided a valuable platform for exchange and strengthened cultural ties between China and Malaysia.

4月20日颁奖仪式上,马来西亚联合国协会(UNAM)主席Dato’Sri Mustapa Bin Mohamed、马来亚大学国际与学术助理副校长林爱莲出席颁奖仪式并致辞。现场展播多部获奖作品,真实生动的内容与多元视角赢得观众热烈掌声。特别设置的“与获奖者对话”环节,让大家深入了解参赛者的学习经历与创作故事,体现中文不仅是一门语言,更是连接世界的重要桥梁。
此外,活动还设有文化体验区,通过互动项目让参与者感受中华文化的魅力。此次活动不仅为中文学习者提供了展示与交流的平台,也进一步促进了中马文化交流。

2026 Understanding China-BFSU Chinese Bridge Summer Camp (for University students) is now open for registration!
2026年 “了解中国” 北外 “汉语桥” 夏令营(大学生)项目正式启动报名,欢迎在校学生积极参加!
1. Details of Program
Date:July 30th to August 12th, 2026
Location: Beijing, China
Activities: Chinese language learning cultural lectures and hands-on experiences, visits to places of interest, art appreciation, cultural exchanges, and international get-togethers.
2. Requirement:
- Ages 18-30 (applicants who will turn 18 before July 30th are eligible), Malaysia nationality, native language is not Chinese or Chinese dialect
- Have passed HSK Level 1/ YCT Level 3 or above (Students who have not yet obtained an HSK certificate must pass the HSK test before departure; otherwise, they will be required to cover the cost of the Summer Camp themselves. Applicants who already hold an HSK certificate at the time of registration will be given priority. Candidates who take the exam at the Kong Zi Institute, Universiti Malaya test center will be given priority.)
- Currently enrolled undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral students at recognized public or private universities or related educational institutions in Malaysia
- Physically and mentally fit to participate in an overseas summer camp
- Able to abide by program regulations and sign the participation statement
- Have not participated in a “Chinese Bridge” offline summer camp for international students within the past three years
- In good health and fit for international travel

4. Cost Coverage
- The program will cover the expenses for participants during their stay in
Beijing, including accommodation, transportation (with group airport pick-up and drop-
off on registration and departure days), course learning, cultural tours, and insurance (travel accident insurance within China only). Participants are advised to purchase international travel insurance covering the entire trip in their home country prior to departure)
- Students participating in the summer camp are required to cover their own round-trip airfare (estimated cost based on previous years: ~RM2500), Visa (if needed), travel insurance.

6. Regarding the screening of participants:
• After receiving the applications, the Kong Zi Institute, Universiti Malaya will conduct an initial screening in accordance with the organizers’ requirements. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview, during which the institute will further assess each candidate’s background and select participants who demonstrate strong potential and meet the basic physical and psychological requirements of the summer camp.
• Students with mobility issues, a history of chronic illness, or those who need to use prescription drugs or related injections during the camp are not allowed to participate.

To address the growing international demand for Chinese language teachers, facilitate the global development of Chinese language education, and support the professional development of Chinese language teachers, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as “CLEC”) has established the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as “the Scholarship”) for eligible Chinese language teachers outside of China.
SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES:
