On 05 May 2026, SK Mutiara successfully organised the HIP STEM Communicators Carnival 2026, aimed at promoting students’ interest and involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through fun and educational activities.
The event was officiated by Madam Lucy Sintum, who represented PPD Kota Kinabalu. In her speech, she praised the school for its continuous effort in encouraging innovation, creativity, and English language usage through the Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) integrated with STEM education.
The carnival was also attended by the Chairperson of PTA, Mr. Khairul Azrin Bin Ismail and Vice Chairperson of PTA, Mdm. Noor Zulaikha Binti Suhaili, alongside teachers, and students who showed strong support for the programme. Various exciting activities were carried out throughout the day, including STEM exhibitions, competitions, and hands-on learning sessions that successfully engaged students of different age groups.
The programme provided students with valuable opportunities to improve their communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and confidence while using English in meaningful situations. The atmosphere throughout the carnival was lively, educational, and inspiring.
The organising committee of the HIP STEM Carnival expressed their appreciation to all guests, teachers, and students for their commitment and cooperation in ensuring the success of the event. The school hopes that similar programmes will continue to nurture students’ interest in STEM education and holistic learning in the future.
