The Faculty of Engineering (FKJ), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) successfully organized a Benchmarking Visit to University College Sedaya International (UCSI), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) from 3โ8 August 2026.
The benchmarking visit was represented by a dedicated team from FKJ UMS which are Dr. Norfazliana Abdullah a Head Program, Ir. Dr. Mohd Syazwan Mohd Musa a Deputy Head Program, Dr. Norsuhadat Nordin a Coordinator of Academy and Quality, PM Ir. Dr. Adly Ibrahim a senior lecturer and Mr. Saifull Azwar Jutrah a Assistant Engineer for Oil and Gas Engineering Program.
The visit provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, benchmarking, and exchange of best practices in engineering education, particularly in the areas of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Programme Outcomes (POs), curriculum development, course management, integrated design projects, student development, facilities, accreditation, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Throughout the six-day visit, the FKJ UMS delegation had the opportunity to engage with academic leaders and programme teams from the three institutions, gaining valuable insights into their approaches to engineering programme management, industry engagement, accreditation readiness, curriculum enhancement, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

This benchmarking visit marks an important step towards continuous improvement and strengthening of the Bachelor of Oil and Gas Engineering with Honours (UH6524002) at UMS, ensuring that the programme remains responsive to evolving industry needs and aligned with current engineering education standards and to prepare for a New Cycle Accreditation in 2027.
