Organised by the KIS LEO Club, this important Anti-Bullying Awareness Programme brings together students, parents, legal professionals and the wider community to start a conversation that matters.

Bullying isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it happens quietly. Sometimes it happens online. And sometimes children simply don’t know where to turn.

At KIS, we believe that creating safe, respectful environments for children goes beyond the classroom. It means giving students, parents and the wider community the knowledge and confidence to recognise bullying, understand their rights, and know what action can be taken.

" Bullying: Know Your Rights, Know the Law" will feature renowned practising lawyers from Kota Kinabalu ; Datin Mary Gomez, Ms Chieng Ho Ming and Ms Joyce Blasius with a focus on child protection and the legal framework surrounding bullying.

Our first PTA SC Coffee Morning was a wonderful way to bring our KIS community together β€” welcoming both new and existing families for a relaxed morning of conversation, connection and a few creative doodles along the way! βœοΈβ˜•οΈ

From getting to know new faces to catching up with familiar ones, it was lovely to see families chatting, sharing stories and simply enjoying time together over coffee and some delicious bites.

A special thank you to our PTA Chair, Mrs Rodriguez, and her team for warmly welcoming our new families and helping create such a friendly and inclusive start to the morning and everyone who attended!

The KIS Leo Club is an extracurricular activity (ECA) where students can develop leadership, teamwork, and a spirit of service beyond the classroom through charitable work.

And what a way to kick off their first activity of the year!

At the Karnival Pendidikan Madani on Saturday, our new and senior Leos stepped up to run fun carnival games, engage with visitors and represent KIS with incredible energy, enthusiasm and teamwork.

Their efforts helped raise an amazing RM625 for the Vision Project, supporting Sabahan children with corneal problems. ❀️

And there was even more to celebrate β€” KIS received the Most Creative Stall Award from the District Education Office!

Well done Leos for stepping up, having fun and making a difference from their very first activity.

Last week, we welcomed staff, students and parents to our online safety workshop with Jonathan Taylor MSc from Online Safety 4 Schools. He shared practical guidance, strategies and advice on the risks and challenges young people encounter online and, importantly, what parents and schools can do together to help children navigate the digital world safely.

Jonathan is a highly regarded Online Safety and Child Safeguarding Consultant with more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including two decades specialising in child safeguarding and 10 years working undercover to tackle online child predators. He now works with schools and educational organisations internationally, delivering workshops for students, parents and staff, and regularly contributes to safeguarding conferences and media discussions on online safety.

This was the only workshop Jonathan is delivering for a school in Sabah, making it a particularly valuable opportunity for our KIS community. His expertise and first-hand experience provided everyone with practical, current and insightful advice on the online challenges facing young people today β€” and how we can work together to help our children stay safe, confident and informed online.

π‹πžπšπ«π§π’π§π  𝐭𝐨 π‚πšπ«πž, π‹πžπšπ«π§π’π§π  𝐭𝐨 π€πœπ­ 🐾

Yesterday, our Year 7–9 students took part in a meaningful learning session focused on animal welfare, animal cruelty and rabies awareness.

We were honoured to welcome the SPCA Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia SPCA, who spoke to our students about animal welfare and the realities of animal cruelty and neglect. It was a heartfelt session that encouraged our students to think deeply about how animals experience suffering and the responsibility we have to treat them with kindness and compassion. The empathy shown by our students was truly heartening.

The Sabah Veterinary Department then helped students understand the importance of rabies awareness β€” learning how the virus spreads and is transmitted, recognising the symptoms, and, most importantly, knowing what to do if they are bitten or scratched by an animal.

Beyond knowledge, experiences like these help our students develop the awareness, empathy and responsibility needed to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Because nurturing global citizens means learning not only to understand the world, but to care for it.🌏🐾
