On this day, people worship their teachers and gurus for guiding them towards the right path.
Guru Purnima is also known as Vyasa Purnima and it marks as the birth anniversary of Veda Vyasa.
As per Hindu tradition, the word ‘Guru’ denotes to a person who takes his followers from the darkness of ignorance towards enlightenment. In order to pay tribute and respect to these gurus, the festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated.
On the day of Guru Purnima, devotees take a bath and offer prayers to their Gurus. Guru Purnima is celebrated all over the country. They recite this Shloka in remembrance of their Gurus.
